Me too!

After my much loved dad died, my mum & my auntie heard him coming downstairs - he only had 1 leg & used to come down on his bottom

Some time afterwards, me & mr floss (before we were married) were misbehaving in a top floor bedroom (big 4 floor house) no-one was on the floor underneath, and we heard 3 loud bangs on the floor - like when a brush handle is banged on the ceiling!

The editors didn't even bother to contextualise where Deana was at the time (only later, from her comments in the garden, did we find out that she'd not heard him). Frustrating TV.
It sometimes looks like a badly shot holiday video.

Why? Are you going on holiday? Oh it clashes with your olympic work?
I would hope you will still have plenty of free time, not to watch BB, but to make the most of your trip to London.

The reason I'm in favour of twists or producer interference is that even though the show has a brilliant intrinsic structure it can't always be relied upon to evolve unpredictably. We would never have got rid of Kris if he hadn't been put up by the producers for eviction; bad for him, good for the show.

The other thing is that reality itself is not ultimately controllable, however complacent we may be. The unexpected happens to us all, and often unfairly. You may have a good career and your firm suddenly goes bust. Your bank's computer system seizes up. Volcanic dust closes the airlines. An axle snaps on your car. As a Chinese philosopher wrote: "It is on disaster that good fortune perches".

Well, Indian Muslims eat it, as in beef curry.

I read that Schwarzkopf have requested a meeting with Endemol - maybe they have more clout than mere viewers:rolleyes:

There was a heaven sent opportunity to play that clip to the HMs, call Conor into the DR and show that conversation to the HMs whereupon Conor would be removed via the back door, in full view of all the HMs. This would have sent the message that the core group cannot assume they can continue to behave badly and succeed,
I agree, they should have done that.

At my Local Indian takeaway they don't even sell Beef, the only meat is Lamb or Chicken.

I used to dine with an Indian family in London, the only meat they ate was chicken or Leg of Lamb.

Thats as far as i know.

Indian Hindus, on the whole, don't eat beef; Indian Muslims, on the whole, do. There's more than one religion in India.

I don't know if Deana is a Hindu, but she won Miss India UK, and the Hindus have many fewer issues with this type of competition than the Muslims, as far as I know. I saw a documentary about Miss India: there was only one Muslim contestant, and she withdrew for religious reasons over the degree of body exposure expected. I think Hira was a Muslim, and Narinder was a Sikh.

*

Deana, perhaps because she doesn't want unnecessary fuss, doesn't make anything of religion--perhaps she is not very strict or even non-practising (the beef thing may just be cultural). But I do sense that part of her distantness--which she identifies herself as a characteristic she doesn't fully understand ("I know I become distant--I don't know why I do that")--is cultural.

Maybe I would have just thought her a cold snob when I was as young as Arron and co (I hope not), but these days I think I would know enough to treat her well in there and take into account the difference between her background and mine.

Pehaps she simply couldn't eat it...it sounds absolutely vile whatever your religion.

Food in a BB house is the big issue. The women in BB8 resented me eating ('Look shes eating again') because the hierarchy was about age and therefore value in the marketplace. I would have starved to dath in two weeks if they had their way,

Hicky...it's called a drawing room because that is a shortened form of 'withdrawing' which is what the ladies did at the end of a meal while the gentlemen stayed to drink port and smoke. I realize I am courting all sorts of 'jokes' in the mention of withdrawing......

In history, control of the food supply has always been fundamental to political and social control. I love seeing how this also plays out in microcosm in the house.

I didn't watch your series, but the nakedness of the agism on BB always appals me. Even this year, we've seen Victoria and Benedict go in no time.

I wouldn't last five minutes in there, since I live for reading. But I've said that I would happily eat the staple food provided--beans, lentils, rice, which I love--if I were hungry. I would use that as a technique to stand aside from food conflicts.

I've noticed that these days people have utility rooms. In my day, houses had sculleries, where the copper was kept. Yes, I'm that old.

When I was seven we moved from the lower floor of a Victorian slum dwelling to a new council house. I had a room of my own instead of having to sleep in the living room (my parents spent evenings in the kitchen); the house had its own little bathroom, and my mum called the main room the "lounge". Paradise.

It's strange how you get to feel about people you've never met - so many times I've thought "I'll ask Hicky about that - he'll know" or "must ask Arte about that recipe" to name just a couple

Balders could always be relied on to find humour in things - a lovely man!

It was Vile, to her.

We have a Dining room and a Lounge, don't use the dining room but eat in the lounge and watch telly in it during the day but retire to upstairs at night to watch telly.
We have our own upstairs and down, don't believe in sharing TV's.
