Pokémon Black and White 2 Announced!

Not sure what people on here make of this, or if they even care, but it appears that two "third versions" of this game are on the cards.
http://uk.ds.ign.com/articles/121/1219443p1.html
http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-vi...ite-version-2/

These were my thoughts which I was going to post elsewhere, before the site I was going to post on decided to ask me what US State I lived in in The United Kingdom and what my Post Code was:

I don't think this news is too bad. We all know that Nintendo always release a third version with a few improvements, just to rake in some more cash, and being a fan of the Pokémon games, I'm happy buying them. This time they've decided to make two "third versions", so not much has changed except that there are two to choose from, and we still don't now the extent of the differences.
With regards to being released on the NDS, I personally feel that that was the right thing to do. It would be a huge change, one which I'm not sure I'd be immediately comfortable with, to switch to the the 3DS. This may see the end of the 2D Pokémon sprites which we've come to love. Or am I stuck in the past, and everyone else wants to get rid of them? Personally, I think the 3D switch-over would be better suited for the inevitable Ruby and Sapphire remakes.
Still, one think which I think they must (somehow) include is a feature which means that the game can be played on a 3DS without being stretched to fit the screen. I don't know how they could do it or if they could, but if it is possible then they should definitely include this feature. The stretched screen is rather annoying, and playing it at normal resolution is even more annoying.

Anyway, I'm already excited for this game. I hope we get a release before the end of the year!

Sorry, I just saw that the same story was posted on the General Gaming forums. I initially didn't see it and I thought the story was better suited here.
Sorry if I have caused any inconvenience.

Im inrigued to see what the storyline will be like, they're sequels, so whilst the area's you play in will be the same (although maybe in a different order), the actual story mode seems to be totally different. Which has never been done before in pokemon so im quite excited!

I hope it is more of a sequel with a new story line rather than just the usual rehash with new features.

it seems to be concentrating more on Kyurem's origin, if you talk to the right people in the game you can find out a myth about this pokemon, that myth being that Kyurem is the discarded husk of the original dragon pokemon that broke off to make Zekrom and Resharim, if you go to Serebii.net you can see Kyurem's alternate forms which look almost exactly like Zekrom and Resharim. So i'm guessing the story will be similar to the one in Platinum

Interesting news. I kinda hope they won't be just released on the 3DS though.

Only just caught up with this news! I am really excited. Pokémon is a big cash machine for Nintendo (what with "new" titles being released every year these days), but there's a reason why they make so much money. The games are invariably worth the buy - there's so much that goes into them - little hidden gimmicks are always there in abundance to reward both new fans and those that have been addicted since the original games came out.

Because I regularly re-play the older titles through anyway (the format never gets tiring), a third version always suits me fine - so the fact that we're talking about a proper sequel makes me eagerly anticipate what the franchise has lined up

I agree.
However, we still don't know for sure if these will be proper sequels or just the usual rehash. I hope it's the former, but I'll buy one nevertheless if it's the former.

Ah you're right, I made the schoolboy error of taking speculation as confirmation

I find it very surprising that it isn't going to be a 3DS title though - it was strange enough that B&W were released very shortly before said console was, but with the 3DS not being a huge success, a Pokémon title would probably have boosted sales somewhat (suckers like me would reluctantly upgrade, for one!). Not that I'm complaining, very happy to save my money and the 3DS doesn't appeal to me much.

I hope its a sequel.. but with Kyurem being on the cover but just in a different forme like giratina was in platium. I think the only difference from other "3rd pokemon games" will be the name.

I'm actually really looking forward to BW2, considering this is the first 'sequel' to a Pokemon game we've had. I'm not overly keen on the Black/White Kyurem's designs, but it'll be interesting to see if they include more than just the 5th generation.

Apparently according to some scans from a Japanese magazine (my source is Serebii.net) the games will have a new storyline, which if true is good.
It's incredibly unlikely that there will be any new Pokémon (maybe a few new formes besides the New Kyurems), but I hope this means we can have new Gym Leaders (which can be rebattled) and a re-jigged Elite 4 as well as some new towns and cities (I assume the game is still set in Unova, so the likes of Castelia City and Nimbasa City are likely to remain).
Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to this game and I can't wait for some more images and information to be released.

I haven't really thought about what I'd like to see in it - it'll be interesting to see whether the player characters will be the same, and whether Bianca and Cheren will be replaced with other rivals (but still make cameos after their character progression in the first instalment). Then it would really feel like a sequel. I always loved the fact that you can challenge the player character from R/B/Y/FR/LG in G/S/C/HG/SS.

A wealth of New Information has been released, and I must say, I'm Impressed.
http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wik...agazine_leaked
Some notable new features are:
A fair amount of Unova is glaciated so the cities in the North, East and South East are now under ice sheets. This means we'll be saying goodbye to Nuvema Tow, Accumula Town, Striaton City, Nacrene City, Lacunosa Town, Village Bridge and Undella Town. However, many more cities have come open for exploration in the South West such as a larger than normal home city, and a tropical town complete with a couple of new Gym Leaders.
Some of the other areas have altered slightly, such as the construction on Route 4 being finished.
The playable characters have changed as well as the rival.

Finally, here is a trailer which shows some further information:

Exciting!

Actually, Unova isn't covered by ice sheets, those sheets were just used in Coro Coro to hide certain parts of the Unova map so we don't get spoilt with tonnes of new information in one go. It's very much the same as the way they've used clouds in the past, just this time round it's ice instead.

Ah, is that what it is? I was wondering why they didn't look very convincing on the map.
It's just that I read on various websites that Unova is now partially covered by an ice sheet, but what you;re saying makes more sense.
Thanks for clearing that up.

Anyway, here is another trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo7hU...layer_embedded

I hope it's better than the first version of Black & White, I was quite disappointed in them.

Yeah, I have no idea why some of the fansites believe this, it's easy to see that there's land and sea underneath the ice if you look at a large map. I wouldn't be surprised however if there was some kind of extreme weather in this game on the Eastern side of Unova, though with the seasons mechanic, it seems unlikely.

Really looking forward to these games to be honest. Black and White are the first games in any generation where I own both editions of the one game, but that was more down to coincidence than me actually aiming to buy both, but I'm glad that I have both now. Not sure if I'll get both Black 2 and White too, only time will tell, it really depends on how much I enjoy the new storyline. Seems there will be lots of new areas to explore; I'm a lot more excited for this than if I'd have been waiting for a single game upgrade with enhancements from the previous versions (ie, Emerald, Platinum). In hindsight, it feels kind of obvious that we're getting a sequel; Black and White (and particularly Unova) never really felt quite complete.

I was all set on skipping this one, until I saw Mareep in that trailer you posted Fez.

Pokemon nostalgia is a bitch. :/

Currently playing Pokemon Black, only on the 6th gym but I'm really enjoying it so far. What's the release date for the sequel here?

I don't get this. All the gameplay footage of pokemon Black 2 I've seen makes it look almost identical to Black?! I don't see the point in it. It certainly doesn't look like a sequel.

Completed Black and it was ok- I love how TM's are infinite now. I still prefer Heartgold though. I don't like how on Black, the sprites when they are in battle look really ropey and blocky. You don't get that on Heartgold- I actually think this makes the battles look a lot better on Heartgold and some of the new pokemon introduced in Black look ridiculous!! Heartgolds i.e, golds era pokemon will always be the best imo. Oh and the area is better in Heartgold and there are 16 gyms and more regions and it had better menus. Black took a backward step with that! You can't even look at the size of pokemon in the pokedex either and having pokemon follow you was good.

While these are sequels, they are set in the same region and only two years have passed so the locales haven't had that much of a change but I can assure you, they are sequels. The story is completely different. There is a LOT completely different. It runs off the same engine, yes, but why would a sequel have to look entirely different?
