Are you offended if someone moves away from you?
On a train or other public seating?
I was on a train when the person who was sitting opposite me got up & moved to elsewhere in the carriage. I think probably he wanted to have a seating area all to himself as the train became less crowded after people disembarked... I don't think i smell... ![]() Personally I do not move even if other seats are vacated. I think it's kind of rude

Maybe he was going to make a private phonecall and didn't want to be overheard? Wouldn't worry me tbh. I'd just think 'yayy got it to myself now!'.
I also think you see people changing seats a lot on trains. |

He didn't make any phone call.
I didn't mind the extra space all to myself after he moved, but I was worried that it was because I had BO or because I was repulsive in some way... ![]() Maybe I'm just insecure

No - I'd assume that person was giving us both a bit of extra space and be glad of it.

Nah! He probably just is someone who wants space and if he could get space by moving that's what he'll do without realising it might make the person he moved away from wonder if there was an issue with them.

Yes, but I'd be thankful at the same time.

No but I was offend when I was on a plane journey recently and a huge fat man chose to plonk himself right next to me, squashing me in my seat in the process. Despite the fact that there was a whole row of seats to our right which were empty. He eventually got the hint when I tried to remove my arm from his folds of flesh and plonked my elbow on his considerable stomach.

No. I'm offended if people sit near me in the first place.

I don't get offended as much. People like their personal space. I hate getting on a crowded train and having to pick someone to sit next to. Then there's the whole wondering whether to move when a spare pair of seats come up. I get weirded out when people sit next to me on a quiet train/bus.

I always move on public transport if a more desirable seat becomes vacant. I never think about the effect on the person I'm moving from.
I assume they are glad to get more room. Hard luck if they take it personally. (I mean if they are strangers, of course. If they're friends and I've got on the bus with them, I don't move then. That would be odd.) |

I like my own space, so I'd be pleased.

Coming home from nightshift one morning,I was nearest the train window on a block of three seats. Train started getting busy, woman sat on the middle seat next to me then at the stop before mine another woman took the outside seat. Some people were standing in the aisle by now as well. Couple of minutes before my stop I stood up and moved towards the aisle, then as the train approached the station the woman in the outside seat stood up and just pushed past me to get off the train. Hello? I thought I'd made it obvious by standing up when I did that I was intending to get off at that stop as well so I don't know why she felt she had to push past.

Before I started my diet last June, I often had situations where I was on a particularly busy bus home with all of the seats taken and plenty of people standing. the seat next to me was nearly always available but people generally avoided it like the plague, even at the expense of standing up all the way home.
i found it amusing more than anything
