Adding the Charlestown storyline sort of worries me. The premise reminded me straight away of BG, certainly the original version anyway. Are they just wanting to follow that type of hope arc now?

That said it's certainly an improvement on season 1 for sure. Pope will be back, probably next week with the 2nd Mass having to save him from some mess he's in.

It was unfortunate they had to lose Jimmy, but hey now we know "no one's safe!"...

Going to go against the grain and say I'm glad Jimmy is gone - he kind of annoyed me.

Is anyone else rooting for the aliens? Old 'Red Eye' has more personality in an individual pixel than the whole of the 2nd Masochists put together

Meh, last week was an improvement. This week back to normal. I really want to like Falling Skies and I do sort of want to know what the story with the aliens is, but it is a bit of a chore to watch. The characters are steriotypes, the plot plodding. The acting very hit and miss. Not sure how much longer I'll give it.

I had a feeling it would be a 'talky' episode. They spent most of the budget on episode 1 and 2, so they needed a quiet episode so they could save the FX budget.

Hi

First 3 episodes have been really good - this bodes well for an early pick up for a third season.

Does anybody else think that red-eye could be anti-alien and could be trying to throw a spanner in the works of the other skitters trying to take over our planet -it would make a really good twist if there were at least a few rebel skitters who turn out to wan to help the humans ?

Was there an episode this week? Is there going to be a break mid-season or will it ryn straight through?

Dave

Ep4 aired last night.

Old Red Eye could be playing his own game but even if it/he is it may not be to the benefit of Humans (he did afterall kill off all the other human prisoners except Tom).

Yes but we don't know if he was under orders to do that?

Ep4 wasn't too bad but suffered from the 'Bratty Teens' problem that has plagued this show from the start.

I take back what I said in my previous post. The kids weren't too bad this week. The adults on the other hand.....

However, I did like the opening scene even if it was a little obvious. And the first two thirds were OK & nicely paced if somewhat cliched. A distinct lack of dynamic tension because I a, don't care if they get harnessed and b, it was obvious they would get rescued.

But the last third dragged, was poorly acted and was cliche after cliche. Though I laughed out loud when the incidental guitar music turned out to be one of the group lol. That was so cheesy it might just move Falling Skies into the 'so bad its good' catagory

No Old Red Eye tonight either Would have liked the overall plot moved on a little but I suppose they've got to drag it out.

The scenes in the Harness factory were poorly shot, acted, and scored.....

Could and should have been a major scene but it was cringy to watch

So what happened to the Kid who got harnessed?

I thought they would have shown at least a brief shot of the Doctor removing it and if he survived the removal or not.

I thought the Harness factory scenes were well done.

I wonder if there will be any lasting effects after one of them bit Weaver?

For a factory that large only to have 1 or 2 skitters puzzles me. You'd think it would be crawling with them. The entry in and out was way to easy.

Didn't expect Weaver's daughter as such and I suspect it isn't the last we'll see of her or the other kids.

Getting in and out was definitely too easy, but the harnesses being attached was well done.

I bet this season is going to end with Diego and Jean's group rescuing the 2nd Mass from Charleston...

Why would they turn all the lights on in the hospital, surely they'd be sitting ducks for the Mechs??
This ep really was a filler episode, to much focus on Hal and his bit of stuff.

The electrics was a bit odd, but then they must have felt they'd be safe as the hospital hadn't been touched by anyone for ages.

It's about time them two got together and it was nice to see Rick back for a short while. One does wonder though about the "Red Eye" story, I'm not convinced at all. Still we can but wait and see.

That was a poorly acted, turgid chore to watch - aside from the Old Red Eye stuff.

Not sure how many more eps I'll be able to watch but I'll see it through until Charleston as there's nothing else on.

Apart from the light's in the hospital I thought that was a fantastic episode!

Role on the Skitter resistance

I agree, it seemed very rushed in places and poorly scripted/written.
They could of cut out half of that episode and expanded on the important bits instead.

When the kid got shot... did anybody in the scene really care? the guy that did it just seemed not bothered as did the others, it then jumped to him being attended too. Short scenes like that then we get long scenes where the lovebirds are hiding in the car.

I think its got to be very careful it dosn't fall into the same trap Terra nova did in regard to bad direction of scenes. Apart from Noah Wyle I don't think the actors are good enough to carry out bad scripts/writing and keep a scene engaging.

That was bad. Matt (? the Noah Wyle character) disobeys a direct order and as a result Rick gets shot. No attempt to save him, no 'OMG I/you shot Rick'. No-one apart from middle son rescts let alone cares (though his acting is so bad I actually giggled at that scene) and instead of being tried and executed for sedition - baring in mind he has been on an alien ship and had alien technology pulled out of his eyeball - he has a bonding moment with his CO.

"Didn't like ya much when we first met, but disappear with mind controlling aliens for three months, have a son in direct communication with 'em, have a bit their tech pulled out yer, disobey a direct order (again) to protect one of them there aliens & get a kid shot, well Matt. Starting to have some respect for ya"

Fairly certain the man ho shot him is in the 'harnessed kids should be put down' camp, so he wouldn't feel bad about it. I'm just glad Rick's dead. Don't have to worry about him coming back now.

I thought it was another good episode. Putting the lights on in the hospital was dumb, but there's still every chance that next weeks episode will open with the Mechs/Skitters attacking the hospital. Last week I thought it was stupid that Hal kept what Ben said to himself, but this week he done the smart thing and told his Dad (though I'm sure more than a week has passed in the show). Ben's going off on his own. Probably for the best, but I'm not looking forward to Tom forming another search party to find one of his sons.

Weaver's leg doesn't look good.

I'm surprised the professor bothered to mention that "Red-Eye" was the ship with him as he doesn't seem to have told anyone anything of his experiences. I'd say he had to have been debriefed offscreen except i don't have enough confidence in the writers to have even thought of it.

If i'd been Wheeler i'd have been questioning him the moment he got back, bullet wound or not. And if he'd been reluctant to answer he'd have a matching hole in his head.

According to Rob Seidman over at tvbythenumbers, a season 3 renewal is imminent.
