It's still a bit early isn't it? I wasn't expecting any reviews until the week before release (as is usually the case with the big summer blockbusters).

I'd say it's a bit early, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I think there are press showings over the next few weeks (including tonight one somebody said with one tweet a few weeks ago) so there might be a few twitter reactions actual reviews likely wont be out for at least a week most likely.

I wonder how many people will going to see this knowing that Batman Begins actually exists. Or expecting it to be like The Dark Knight which it really wont be.

There are many people who, believe it or not, went to see TDK with even knowing there was a film before it.That's how big TDK was. Nolan as well as the cast have all said that Rises ties back in to Begins which should be interesting as there will likely still be people that are going to see it who have only seen TDK so may not have a clue what is going on.

Also each film has a very different style. Begins was very comic-booky, TDK was far more grittier and more of a crime thriller. Nolan calls Rises a "war film". So people who have only seen TDK will probably be expecting more of the same when infact it will likely look and feel completely different.

Ah I see, thanks for clearing that up.

I guess the logical conclusion is that Heath Ledgers passing helped draw in more people for TDK.

Yeah I've just two booked tickets at my nearest Cine-World who are showing a double bill of BB & TDK on July 17 for Ł5.40 each!

Bargain! Although 318mins = numb bum time!

I think Empire cinemas are also doing a similar deal.

From someone who saw it -

In reaction to who had the best moments -

@TomMcAuliffe
@TheCrackCapo Bane for sure

@TomMcAuliffe
@Luigumus the trilogy is greater than the sum of its parts, and for me the 3rd was the very best part of the whole story

‏@TomMcAuliffe
@Luigumus Dark knight is a classic in its own right - it stands alone, but in this trilogy, and as a closer, this film exceeds

‏@TomMcAuliffe
@Inferno313 its an ending that presents opportunity for thought for sure

‏@TomMcAuliffe
@BLopez527 risky/tough story well told, brilliantly acted, great cinematography, awesome score

@TomMcAuliffe
@JeremytheSollie to your original question - there are things I criticize in every film, but this one measures high on many measures

@TomMcAuliffe
@Inferno313 there will be some surprises but not big ones, the beauty of the film is how well it tells the story.

‏@TomMcAuliffe
@prodigenoir tom hardy was incredible as Bane, the storyline was fantastic.

‏@TomMcAuliffe
@JeremytheSollie I think the Joker is far more iconic than bane,with more memorable quotes,but this story was great, including bane's origin

Basically the gist from the press screening early reactions is that TDKR is a masterpiece, is the best out of all 3 Batman films, has the best ending to finish off the trilogy, top notch performances all around and will hit you hard emotionally. Essentially Nolan has knocked it out of the park!

In Nolan we trust. I salute you, sir.

All separate comments/tweets by individuals who saw the press screening. A couple are spoiler-ish but nothing massive, however i have added spoiler tags just in case.

Oh, by the way...the new Batman movie? It's better than the second one.
Quote:
Wow. Quite speechless at the moment, but i'll say that TDKR was everything I wanted it to be.
Quote:
Word is filtering through from critics about THE DARK KNIGHT RISES being an unbelievable film.... with the best ending ever.
Quote:
I think it's better in some ways. The last 15mins are just unbelievable.
Quote:
I will say some fans will find certain aspects controversial, but in my eyes, everything in the film fit the overall scheme of this installment and the series in general and Nolan really couldn't have mad it any more epic.
Quote:
Just finished the screening of Dark Knight Rises...so much awesome...can't wait to see it again. And again
Quote:
As far as audience reaction, there were only 40-50 ppl in attendance (mostly critics), but there was applause and I leaned over and shook Michael Uslan's hand and congratulated him when his name appeared in the credits. I, myself, cried twice...once out of sadness and once out of pure geeky uncontrollable happiness.

THEDARKKNIGHTRISES WAS AMAZING
Quote:
Nolan has completely nailed a PERFECT end to this series. Everything is EPIC - the score, the action, the emotional triggers - all epic.
Quote:
i saw the new dark knight movie, it was ****ing awesome

I loved the Dark Knight; its a modern classic in its own right, but there was an epic beauty to the third and final chapter
Quote:
there will be some surprises but not big ones, the beauty of the film is how well it tells the story.

9 out of 10 for me. I'd put Amazing Spider-Man at a 7.5 and Avengers at an 8.5
Quote:
TheDarkKnightRises‬ left me speechless and was everything I wanted it to be.
Quote:
#2, #3 and #1 for the general filmgoer, #3,#2, #1 for me. I think this film closed the trilogy brilliantly, and Nolan took risks
Quote:
Q. Hathaway... Does she kick ass as promised? A. hell yes, and I was a doubter
Quote:
Some truly fantastic scenes for sure though. I think the Joker is far more iconic than bane,with more memorable quotes,but this story was great, including bane's origin.
Quote:
Q. how was Gordon-Levitt and his role? A. brilliant another truly great thing about the film
Quote:
Having said that, HOLY MOLEY DEPUTY COMMISSIONER FOLEY, this is a great film. It's not a summer blockbuster by any means, and yet, it totally is (if that makes sense). The biggest question everyone asks: "is it better than TDK?" and I'll answer that by saying it's really different. Everything's different. The characters are different (even Bruce at first), the tone is different, and the story is different. But everything is BIGGER and, in my eyes, better. I love the Joker as much as anyone else (my favorite villain in any medium) but Bane's plan is more creative, better executed, and a little more fun to watch as it all unfold.

I'm almost afraid to post this after KOF's reactions, but i just got out of an exhibitor screening in Dallas of TDKR. It was absolutely incredible. Better than TDK in almost all ways. Whoever gave this a 9/10 is being too harsh. If this isn't a 10, then a 10 does not exist.

Let me start with the story. The story is tied in perfectly to the other two films and I do believe this is a perfect trilogy. Expect a few good surprises.

The performances of the actors are magnificent. I can't decide if Anne Hathaway, JGL, Hardy, or Bale give the best performance. Anne Hathaway flirts the line between sexy and vicious very well. She is a bad broad. She captures the ambiguity of her character very well and looks sexy as hell in her get-up. JGL is basically the heart of Gotham during the film. He is a young cop who quickly earns the respect of Gordon during this time. His character is VERY important to the story. Bale gives his best Batman performance yet. The voice is perfect the entire time and you see him go through several changes as a person in this film. Hardy is a bad bad dude. His performance is truly brillaint when you consider the obstacles of the mask. There are a few takes that the audio seems a little off from his expressions but all in all, he is great. The emotion he shows with his eyes, particularly towards the end is really something.

The score, cinematography, and editing are top notch. I unfortunately did not watch this in the best of theaters and that may have taken away from some of the brilliance of it. I can't wait to watch it again in IMAX, because there are several scenes that were obviously paired down for the smaller screen.

Rest easy everyone, Chris Nolan has outdone himself and has created a masterpiece. This may go down as one of the best movies ever. Certainly in my top 10 for best movies I've ever seen. If this does not break the mold and win Best Picture, no comic book movie ever will.

The Dark Knight Rises is not only easily the best Batman movie yet, but now one of my favorite movies I've ever seen. It was unbelievable!
Quote:
It's official. #TheDarkKnightRises is ****ing amazing. It received a standing ovation from the screening this morning (all critics).

"All I can say is....be ready to be hit REAL hard in The Dark Knight Rises. Very emotional and powerful. Blows TDK out of the water."
Quote:
Friend after watching TDKR: “I never thought I’d get to say in my lifetime that TWO Batman movies deserve Best Picture Oscars.”

Another friend: “Now I understand why Nolan is walking away. With a two punch combo like TDK/TDKR, the fight’s over. Knockout.”
You can thank me later!

A big American critic who's name escapes me (Not Peter Travers)created a "Best of 2012 so far" article said that he will be giving his first 4/4 review of the year this month and will soon be writing a "Best comic book movie of all time" article soon after. Can't be a coincidence,

Really seems like Nolan still hasn't made a dud.
