Unofrtunately the app store has disappeared as well
I cleaned up some system files using disk clean up, and i think it was around that time they went bye bye. I've never had that problem before just a little weird.

I had a look on the app store and could not find it, plus I could not see a way of deleting the Desktop app just unpinning it but Search should still pick it up
![]() Maybe System Restore will put them back, I've not needed to use System Restore on W8 yet

Use the quick system restore in Windows 8 which keeps your personal files, but reverts back to a working Windows state.....if not, try searching for explorer.exe and see if it will take you to the desktop.
