Firefox 13.0.1 issues

I am having a few issues since i last updated ff.

Firstly when i open a new tab, when a site loads, although its showing, its not active, i have to click on the page to activate it.

Secondly, when viewing live update sites such has bbc sport etc, they only update when im actually viewing the page, so if im viewing another site in a different tab, the other site will only update when i open that tab again.

And finally, i cannot view my emails with ff, i always get a server problem, i dont use a client as such, i just go through VMs homepage, which i have always done.
Its fine with IE, no such issues with email.

Are other people having these problems, although not serious, they are annoying.

Thanks.

No. Everything's working fine here. The way the browser performs could be programmed to be more effortless though. That's just my opinion thrown in there about the performance.

Having a problem where Twitter pages are not being displayed in FF. The top banner and search box appear but the rest of it is just a blank page - loads ok in IE9.

I don't have a Twitter account myself but I do store the URL of people I'm interested in and bookmark the page directly.

Ah, if I use the webdeveloper mode I find the following critical error...

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "The operation is insecure." code: "18" nsresult: "0x80530012 (SecurityError)" location: "https://twimg0-a.akamaihd.net/c/phoenix/en/bundle/t1-hogan-core.a9e2cd52e5f610bca458a29c3f4ca556.js Line: 40"]

That's the last error being displayed but before that there's dozens of "Error in parsing value for 'background-image'. Declaration dropped", "Unknown property '-moz-box-shadow'. Declaration dropped".

I have disabled all add-ons but the result is the same.

Change from FF13 to 14 seems to have fixed my Twitter issues.

May not be a 13.0.1 issue, but does seem to be a Firefox thing as it appears to be OK in Chrome and IE...

Whenever a particular DS forum member posts, their user name, though seemingly one line, gets spread out over the height of about 4 lines. The User is:
15Million℃
and the effect seems to be some reaction to the the "Degrees C" bit which is a single character of some kind.

Edit: Yes, it has done the same in this post where it quotes the name which is why there is a fairly large gap above and below..

I did similar but then moved to Chrome. It is honestly miles better.

The only difference I found was the bookmarks, which to start with seem a little backwards. You soon get used to it though.

Browser choice is subjective. Whenever a poster posts a problem with browser X it's best to offer solutions in that poster's preferred browser. Just saying "use browser Y" or "I prefer browser Y" is pointless.

In this case the OP has already said they don't like the alternatives so if you can't suggest a fix in their preferred browser it's best to say nothing.

It's rarely the case for any browser that a reported problem is either universal or unfixable, even though an OP might think this is the case.

You typed the degree symbol (Unicode 00B0) followed by a capital C, but the other poster used the degree Celsius symbol which is a single character (Unicode 2103).

Yes, they are doing the same. They were OK using Safari on my iPhone though.

It looks like a known bug that has now been fixed.

An update to the latest nightly build should sort it, or if you can live with it just wait a few weeks for the next release.

OK. Well, I don't use the pre-release versions (I am not that technical with these things) but expect there will be another formal release fairly soon.

Actually it didn't. What did fix it was allowing cookies to be stored for the twitter site.
