For one overview measure MER is a good candidate if you have to choose just one because it usually reflects the others or you might look at EVM... - but really you want to see all measures yourself & a decent specy to help track problems down....

Great thread btw..

well thank the contributors for the shape of the thread - far too many helpful peeps for me to list, but spiney and glt have been there from the start.

I did not see the MER on their analyser. I am sure it was there as it was a nice piece of kit.

yes and echostar released a firmware fix for series linking.

I even tried the sling functionality. On the internal network it uses ~8Mbps (ie 1MB/s) so no idea what quality will be like over internet (work block access).

just that FM hiss to deal with. If only I could bottle it and sell it..

i think the installers did what they would have anyway but at least you were monitoring the situation .....

..... you can bottle it ! in my yoof one of the trendy electronics projects was building a white or pink noise generator to help one "relax". same era all those dodgy companies were selling negative ion generators to aid sleep and asthma. yeah. putting line flyback stage with tripler in a plastic box is obviously completely safe .......
