Video ads that download and play automatically

How can I stop this happening?

I only have 10 GB limit a month and I'm finding it hard to manage. I imagine that these videos and ads that download without my consent are eating away at some of the bandwidth?

Yes they are but a 10GB limit is not enough these days anyway and a bit mean of any ISP that offers it, who are you with ?

Download and install (untick any toolbars ) Firefox, making it your default browser. Go to 'tools' 'add-ons' 'get add-ons' and in the box 'search all add-ons' Type noia and search, install that for a reasonable appearance. Go back to add-ons and search for Adblock+, install it and you should not have the problem any more.

If you're using Firebox or Chrome, install Adblock Plus and FlashBlock.

Do these now work with youtube? I took my adblocker off years ago because youtube stopped working and that was the only way then to get it working again?

BT's option 1 broadband has a 10gb per month cap.
Kinda annoying as it's the package they are always trying to get people to sign up on with their various deals.

advertising should be BANNED PERMENANTLY from the internet ..... not only is it becoming a nuisance, but the bandwidth it wastes too!

What do suggest replaces it? Everyone pays to use the sites that they like? I'd rather have the ads.

Advertising is what pays for most sites. I take it you would pay a subscription to all the sites you visit instead then?

The OP's specific original question was about video ads, which use up your monthly 10GB.
