Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart, Casablanca) is probably one of the greatest characters of all time. He has an interesting back story that is only hinted at (gun running and fighting the Fascists in Spain), he delivers some cool dialogue ("I stick my neck out for no one"), he runs the coolest joint in North Africa (Rick's Café Americáin) and in an act of self sacrifice gives up the woman he loves (Ilsa Lund) for the greater good before walking off into the sunrise to fight the Nazis with the dapper Captain Renault.
