Hey

My laptop has been acting up a lot.( see other posts) I got my laptop fixed again last month and a new hard drive installed. However last night when I shut it down, it was unstalling windows updates so wouldnt let me shut it down until the updates were installed. Now this morning the bluescreen is coming up and I cannot get my laptop started!!! anyone help please, before I smash it into pieces!!

If this is a continuation of another discussion, it should be in that discussion. If it isn't, you should include all relevant information, including make & model number, Operating system and version and history of the fault.

Tap F8 when you switch on and select 'Last Known Good Configuration' or 'Safe Mode'. If neither of these work, you're probably going to need a copy of the Windows disk to repair it.

What exactly is the error message? This can sometimes narrow down the cause of the problem.

Why on earth were you trying to shut it down whilst it was installing updates? You need to learn how to use your laptop properly otherwise you will cause all sorts of problems. Or rather, you are causing all sorts of problems.

Did you force it to shutdown while it was installing updates?

Unfortunately most computer manufacturers no longer include recovery discs as they simply have a recovery partition on the hard drive. Also unfortunate is that the importance of making backup discs is more often than not not emphasized or made enough simple enough for the average user. In most cases they are never made. Then the hard drive goes bad or gets replaced and they may no longer have access to the recovery partition. I truly feel sorry for the average computer user.

Theres normally a big message in the middle of the screen saying that its installing updates and dont turn the machine off, so i can assume that you ignored it and have probably ballsed up the windows install up, guess its time to pony up for someone to fix it again
