It will NOT fit the bill at all, it's not memorable and certainly does not sound like Queen...who would have done a much better job! Heather Small's "Proud" would have been MUCH better and who cares if it is "Heart FM stuff" as you put it? "Proud" is a much more positive, uplifting and melodic song which would have perfect for the Olympics and would be remembered for years to come if it had been used for the Olympic theme, whereas this dirge from Muse is instantly forgettable. It's SH*T !! |

The problem I have is that it sounds as if Matts trying too hard to be inspirational and it feels a bit forced.

It's very grand, so I guess it is suitable for the Olympics. The lyrics aren't that great, but I overall do like it.

The Pi$$ soaked blanket known as Barlow already destroyed an already awful Jubilee celebrations with his wrist slitting song, the Olympics needed a step in a different direction. Well done to MUSE for writing this song. While it isn't like their other material, after giving it a few listens, it has really grown on me.

It's brilliant. I was so terrified we'd get "Pixie Lott ft Dappy" or "JLS ft Labrinth" with some cheesy pile of dancey crap about "going for gold" with a rap verse about growing up on the streets of East London, or Barlow with something akin to his unbearable Jubilee number. Instead we got Muse with a real track, not inspiring, light and uplifting; but pure power. It lends itself far more to the music we're known the World over for (namely Queen), and to be quite honest, embodies a little bit of British spirit too.

First off, I love Muse. They are without doubt my favourite band in the world at present, and quite possibly of all time. Some of their work is verging on the divine for me, and I honestly think that they have gotten better and better as each album has come out.
That being said; I heard this new song yesterday and it is utterly dreadful. It doesn't seem to know what it is doing, it plods along then gets loud, then goes back to plodding along - not what I would expect from the Muse boys at all. My only hope is that (as with the Twilight song) they were asked to contribute a song and knocked something up in 5 minutes just to shut the requestor up. My worry is that this was always going to be the first song from the new album, in which case I would be very concerned that the rest of the album is just as bad. |

Just listened to it. It's great - bombastic, over-the-top, ridiculous, operatic, noisy, everything I expect from Muse.
Hpoefully marks a return to form after the disappointment of "The Resistance" |

I agree, if the new album is along these lines then it'll be good. The Resistance was awful and I wasn't crazy on BH&R either but hoping for better this time.

Long time Muse fan. And I just love this. The more I listen, the more I enjoy. Definitely a grower. The longer version of the vidoe is just so good. Really fitting I think.

It's a great stadium tune. The lyrics are simple so people will be able to sing along, but it's heavy and full of energy. I especially like the cockiness, craziness and challenge of the last third. It's pure flamboyant, strutting grandeur.
There's one thing for sure - people are going to feel *pumped* when they hear this being blasted out around East London. |

My first impression was that its pretty good - nowhere near the best Muse have done, but I never expected that from an Olympic song. I just hope it isn't going to lose them too many fans, as it seems to be getting slaughtered online. NME have posted a really scathing review of it.

I like it but it does remind me of Queen. I really think Clement Marfo & The Frontline's 'Champion' should be the London 2012 song 'I'M FEELING 10 FEET TALLL, UNSTOPPABLE I'M THE CHAMPION'

I have heard it 3 times now and LOVE it. It will fit the bill perfectly. So what if it sounds a bit like Queen at their best. It will make a pleasent change when it charts. Imagine you are an athlete coming into, say, the cycle velodrome and this is pumping out
You wont need to feel more motivated. SUPERB
That is Heart FM stuff......best left WELL alone
