Threads come up from time to time along the lines of "Nice/rude" celebs you have met. A lot of the time, the "rude" stories are like this "I waited outside someones studio/hotel/where ever and they didn't acknowledge me, how RUDE "

In fairness, if someone isn't expecting to met you and you jump out at them, then surely you are the rude person for encroaching on their personal space?

I could understand someone being miffed if they made the effort to go to a meet and greet and the celeb wasn't interested but unless it's a proper, pre-determined time, why do certain people feel like they are entitled to be treated like they are a friend of the celeb when they meet them randomly in the street or worse, decide to stalk them?

These people claim to be fans of the person but they don't have enough respect to leave the person in peace and instead expect them to behave like some sort of Energiser Bunny who is always up for anything, rather that a normal person who has good days and bad days.

tl,dr : don't expect your favourite celeb to great you like a long lost friend and you won't think they are rude!

The people who play rude unpleasant characters like Rab C Nesbitt, Albert Steptoe, or that old drunk priest who sat in the corner all the time in Father Ted, have it really good - cos what you want from them is a curse or a swear word and rather than be offended, you are delighted by it!

Then there's people like Simon Cowel, or John McEnroe of old, who made their mark in their chosen professions by being rude and unpleasant (though at least JM was great at tennis). They are just g*ts and the best thing that you can do is ignore them or if your meeting is a planned one in Cowell's case, have a great put-down prepared in advance to counter his scathing remarks. At least John McEnroe has matured with age, I don't think that Cowell ever will. Unless he does a Ross Kemp and marries someone like that ginger-b*tch from the Murdoch papers, who will put him in his place. You note that Ross couldn't stand her for long though!

Anyway here's a put-down to put any unco-operative celeb in their place if you catch them on a grumpy day:-

Can I have your autograph please?

No, go away and don't bother me.

Oh, of course! What they say is true then, you can't write. Come to think of it, your acting's not too good either!

What puzzles me is that if their PR tends to lurk here(as has been rumoured for some celebs), why their PR hasn't been on this site to defend their client?

Certainly the likes of Cilla Black, the prat from Corrie & Lulu seem to get a bad press on here, but there's no comment from their PR, not even a threat of legal action!

Having something like that at the ready kind of presupposes you're going out with the attention of catching someone out. It bespeaks a rather hostile and entitled attitude, on your part.

Perhaps DS isn't seen as representative of the public and the PRs see posting on DS as a waste of their time.

Doubt its worthwhile considering legal action and subsequently giving even more publicity to the 'bad press' on here.
Newspapers are an entirely different kettle of fish to consider imho.

Don't come with the cod psychology, mate. What it shows is someone fed up with a lifetime of being p*ssed on, deciding to give back as good as they get, from now on. But each to their own. Who would 'get done', if said celeb decided to take action to protect, rightly or wrongly, their reputation?

I assume Digital Spy, as the place where the comment was made, would be first, but would the celeb/PR bother tracking down the original poster who made the comment, especially if the poster had some sort of proof of the remark, eg video, witnesses etc.

I think said celebs - Lulu, CIlla etc quite frankly don't give a flying f**k, they are rude in real life so why would they car what gets posted on a crappy forum.

You are totally right OP. i get to work with celebs a lot, mainly popstars. They try their absolute hardest to accommodate all of their fans etc when they just walk up to them, but its very hard to be nice all the time. I know that I'm not! haha. In a professional environment, i have never ever met a celeb thats been rude, I've met some pretty big stars and they have all been lovely! Even stars that are known for being rude/ mean are almost always the opposite imo. I certainly didn't think Joan Rivers would be the kindest/ caring/ most generous person i would meet!

Des o Connor once told my mother and a few others to F off!

My mother went to London as part of an arranged trip to see a big show back in the late 60's.

After the show, they went round to the stage door and when Des came out, politely asked for his autograph. He just said "F off" and got into a waiting limo and sped off.

My mum and her friends were middle aged respectable people so there was no way that they offended him in some way.

How many celebs appear to be lovely, nice sweet, butter won't melt in their mouth type characters on stage / screen but in real life are horrible arrogant pigs.

I used to live very near a certain wig wearing celeb who likes dancing, golf and game shows and is a Sir. I could tell you a thing or two about him.

I don't think it too onerous to smile at someone, especially when that someone is clearly a fan of your work and appreciates you. Even at her busiest Cheryl, for example, will always give a radiant smile to her fans.
