There is something sinister about Tom Cruise. His public nice guy image and 'liberal' politics is at odds with his insistence that crew and employees don't make eye contact with him. I think that is such a horrible thing to do.

How sad. Poor woman. I remember she was on the TV Shows Tonight and said she still did not understand what went wrong in the marriage and a few days later Tom was on and said Nicole knows the reasons why we divorced but we have decided NOT To speak about it in public!!!!!! Bizarre.

I'm looking forward to seeing Katie Holmes come into her own now, and having a highly successful career.

Hypothetically, if Nicole brought in lawyers re any awkwardness or sole custody the children would still have access to Tom / their religon and could potentially follow this doctrine. Perhaps Nicole agreed to minimal custody in order to avoid being given this label and be able to maintain some sort of access to her eldest children. Sometimes even money isn't enough to fight a (crazy) organisation like that. Re Katie: In all the early photos of TomKat, Katie looks genuinely happy so I'd like to believe that she was swept off her feet by one of her childhood icon /crushes rather than coldly entering a business arrangement. |

Given that they were carried by Scientologist birth mothers, her claim to them may have been watered down by their ties to the cult. Also, they were at an age when their opinion was given weight. They'd been born and brought up and home schooled by Scientology all their lives, they knew nothing else. Maybe they were heavily influenced by their father and all the other people in their lives who bought into and practised the weird and sinister ways of Scientology. They must have been totally brainwashed, moving to Australia part time and out of whacko California..anything goes...land could have seen as terrifying. Apparently Nicole has a better relationship with Isabella who, of course, is a grown woman now. I like Nicole, I've always admired her dignity and it's great to see her so happy with Keith and their two girls. Tom Cruise is a very toxic little midget with a creepy stranglehold over so much. Money and Celebrity do indeed equal power. I thought Katie was an idiot when she got involved with him, nothing is worth selling your soul for, but having Suri (I'm one of those who thinks she has nothing of Tom Cruise in her) sets off those maternal warnings of what your child is being exposed to. I await with interest to see what new starlet is picked to be No4. |

![]() But you're right, he's a complete control freak and katie was mad to get involved, even if she does come oput of it with $33 mil or whatever. |

I'm surprised at the amount of support Katie is getting from those that believed she entered into a contract. (I believe the audition rumours and subsequent contract)
There's lots of 'you go girl' comments being thrown around. Entering a sham marriage in exchange for money and increased fame, is a form of prostituting yourself. And bringing a child into it, knowing its just a contract and they will have to experience their parents divorce, is really low. |

I got accused of being sexist and insane when I questioned all the people who were congratulating her and celebrating her "escape". |

If you agree to marry someone in exchange for money and career advancements, don't you have yourself to blame if you subsequently don't like it? I agree that she has lost her sparkle though, she hasn't looked happy for ages, at least not in the photos I've seen. I just can't cheer her on like most people seem to be doing, as if you are calculated enough to go for that deal (which many others turned down) then what kind of person must you be. |

IF this is true, then what an arrogant upstart he is. That is pure ego. If that's true then he's gone way down in my estimation.

If its true, as suggested on this thread, that tom had potential women lined up for potential marriage...and Katie Holmes decided to go with it....why on earth did they not seek a woman who was already a scientologist.....wouldn't that have just been so much simpler in the long run!?

Maybe there aren't many open female Scientologists that meet Tom's standards.
