Just listening to Emma Barnett on LBC.

She says as an example "Gary you're in Tower Hamlets, What would you like to say".

Message to Emma:- I am quite sure that Gary knows He is in Tower Hamlets.

Nobody's told the LBC webmaster (webmaster! hahaha!) that Anthony is away. And one of their headlines is: Stratford Stabbing: Man Killed By Olympic Park.

I think Chris Lowrie started weather forecasting as a hobby. As LBC don't use his forecasts any more (unless the newsreader just reads them without crediting them to him), I wonder if he still does them.

Must be the same person who proofreads the Mail Online (i.e - no-one) - they have the most appalling spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and howlers ever. (For proof, go to their search bar and type in 'Soliders [soldiers] and see how often it comes up!)

Had to laugh at Steve's take on the jewellery shopping channels, everything he said was true. I also sit transfixed watching sometimes, because I can't believe that people buy that tat. How they can advertise cheap looking rings for thousands, then offer it for under a hundred, can't be right.

Tanzanite, anyone? I always imagine Steve sitting there with his phone and credit card at the ready, especially when they're flogging kitchen gadgets.

Morning all.

I'd wager he doesn't have any left. They've probably all been bought for two quid by thrifty members of the public via his brother's boot sale events.

After all he has to make room for the next clever kitchen gadget. I live with someone who buys everything going - electric potato peeler, smoothie maker etc. Our kitchen surfaces are covered with them and they never get used to I understand the addiction.

I never buy anything - most of them are bloody useless and those that are any good take hours to strip down and clean...Life is too short!

Ah yes - bit of a typo there

When he was on with Clive one would never guess he was actually more his senior or at the very least an equal of sorts : Lowrie also looks way older than he came across on air

Although JOB is occasionally getting too bullish, I think his debate over Europe is what he does best. He's really pushing people to be specific about their objections, but almost no-one can. But even then, they still don't (or refuse to) get it!

I don't have a clue whether Europe is a good or bad thing, but at least I acknowledge that I don't know. I don't understand such deep-seated feelings when people are so uninformed, when pressed for facts.

JOB's 12pm slot is about the teenage hoodie and a journalist who had her opinions changed after engaging with some of them.

One thing has stood out for me: Mash, the teenager in the studio, was living in a hostel at age 16 (for which he also paid some rent), so living off £17/week net... for clothes, food, toothpaste, everything. The hostel had no kitchen, so he couldn't cook even if he wanted to.

I'm just wondering how many presenters would still want to talk about benefit scroungers to this guys face?

I've heard this topic debated before by other presenters and the same thing has happened. Callers rarely approve of our being part of europe but nobody can ever say why. I'd be pushed myself although I initially I though it a good idea for freedom of trading reasons.

I do think James acted like an idiot with the caller called Clare though.

Even more worryingly - these are the very people who elect our government.

As Winston Churchill said ....

'The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.'

To be fair, I think they were both acting like idiots during that call! Clare didn't listen to a word he said and simply wouldn't accept that she was saying things with no evidence. She was also just plain wrong on the origins of some of the stuff she was quoting, but this is often true for lots of anti-Europeans. I just don't see how you argue with someone like that, or how someone can be that blind to the inadequacies of their arguments?

Love that quotation!

Which brings us full circle back to our regular debate on media bias. As most people get their info from the papers, radio and TV, I think it's really important that those institutions declare their interests (who owns them, etc etc). And personally, I still believe that presenter-bias on LBC does matter...

To misquote Donald Rumsfeld... there are too many 'unknown unknowns' out there, thanks to the whim of media outlets.

Morning g-s et All

Steve doesn't do credit cards, having had his fingers burnt, during his spend-thrift youth.

I turned off J'OB, at the first mention of the EU - not because I understand the whys & wherefores - because I don't .....my ears have been assailed all weekend with Banking talk....I really couldn't take any more. ... Obviously, a good move, if his next topic was - Benefits - a subject I do understand - but, on which, I prefer to keep my views to myself.

I will give J H-B a whirl. shortly
