If they are legally obliged to do this, then why has no one taken them to task and why has no one made the relevant complaints to the relevant bodies?
The transmission mode was never part of the law was it not?

I have just tried manually tuning on my Humax and the 2 channels ITV1 and 3855 come up but when I go to channel 5115 (where STV HD used to be), I just get the "no or bad signal" board. Has STV HD gone to another channel number?

Edit: Think I might have just found it on channel 5614

When you tune using non-freesat there is no allocated local channel number (that comes from the epg). The box allocates a channel number at the end of the channels you have already tuned. So most everyone will have a different local channel number. In non-freesat use list to find the channel number allocated to sid 3855. Press red and choose HD to avoid having to look through them all.

Thanks for the info

Took an hour to dump hundreds of channels, ill leave freesat on the pana as it is without Granada in HD.
I remember something similar happened to BBC One & BBC HD when they switched to 1N or switched to DVB/S2, a lot of problems for Panasonic owners that time also.
I didn't have to a complete reset to get those channels back at that time. Something must have been changed at source to enable the channels to be seen on generic receivers.
I think I'll leave well enough alone till all Olympic steams go dead and I can then clear those & all the dead placeholders I have on my EPG with a full reset.

Why don't you start the ball rolling and complain? And don't forget to let us know what happens.

I am well aware of the "must carry" PSB status of the SD channels but since when have the few HD simulcasts been promoted to PSB status. As far as I am aware although the regulations and requirements for PSB status were being looked at, there has been no change yet and the HD simulcasts do not meet the present requirements and thus do not have "must carry" status.

BTW do the HD simulcasts have separate licences or do they operate under the SD licence - if under the SD licence can they be counted as separate channels being mere simulcasts?

I was hoping that the problems with STV HD would have been sorted by the time I got back from my holidays. I had seen the posts that had previously suggested that it was back on air from my mates computer. Unfortunately, I had not seen the subsequent postings on problems with Panasonic and other equipment. I tried to rescan using the frequencies for that channel.
However, the relevant part when tuning the channel frequency, the SIDS, (hope this is the correct part of the tuning process I'm referring to) cannot be changed to 23000 on the STB. Is there another way to re-tune this channel?
For the record, I tried the Humax box in non Freesat tuning mode and got STV HD on 3855. So I know that it can be scanned by at least one box in the house but I want it on the Panasonic box too. Can anyone suggest a way to get it back?

Symbol Rate is the one that needs to be 23000. Not sure about your box, though.

The last post on this thread http://www.uksatellitehelp.co.uk/201...esat-hd-boxes/
*may* solve your problem.
Evidently the pre-set symbol rates (S/R) on a Panasonic do not include 23000.
Also make sure the software is up to date.

If you can't get it sorted maybe contacting Panasonic will provide an answer - but don't hold your breath.

Thanks for your advice and helpful suggestions about restoring to shipping conditions Mac2708. It took 2 attempts to sort the issue out with STV HD. It was missing on attempt one and remembered previously needing to scan in all channels when it went fta several years ago.
So I scanned in both pay and free channels. This worked, but there was no sound on any channel. However, switching back to check on Freesat and then turning back to non Freesat mode restored sound on all channels.
3855 aka STV HD is now back on the Panasonic box. Strangely, there is no station i d but it's definitely STV HD as the logo appears in the ad breaks. Thanks once again for the help.
