Final Fantasy Theatrythm (Demo on eShop)
The demo on eShop has two tracks to play, each with three difficulty levels: Man with a Machine Gun (FF VIII) and Sunleth Waterscape (FF XIII-2).
Having never really paid much attention to Theatrythm when it was first announced, the game wasn't on my radar. Now that I've played the demo, I'm really looking forward to playing the full game. The game is a fairly simple rhythm game. Icons move across the top screen left to right, each of which indicates whether you should tap, slide or hold the stylus on the bottom screen. From the tracks available in the demo, the actions fit the music well, and it's easy to get into the trance-like state that good rhythm games should induce. Even though I was playing on a set of crappy earphones, the music quality was pretty good - it helps that Man with a Machine Gun is one of my favourite tracks from the series. ![]() I'm going to guess that the artstyle is going to be divisive, but I really like what I've seen so far. Snow showing up at the end of Sunleth Waterscape managed to get a laugh out of me at least! I've seen a few screenshots of classic enemies showing up as well, which should be pretty funny. ![]() The demo doesn't show off any of the RPG elements that are in the full game - characters learn spells to help with the higher difficulties and such - which I hope will help to keep things interesting. Apparently the full game has over 70 tracks, with another 50 being released as DLC - that's a lot of tapping and swiping! |

yea I gave it a go. i'm pleased that the man with the machine gun is in there and playable in the demo.
![]() ![]() game itself is fun I had a big silly grin on my face while playing, but it didn't seem as responsive as I thought it would be with the touch controls. will need to give it another try . will be interested to see how it scores and to hear more about the rpg side of it. |

Yep. Great demo. And it's so addictive, you can see why they only allow you to load it 30 times.
Just a note. If you pre-order this game from Amazon UK, you get a free Theatrhythm stylus. |

![]() The game plays really well on the Kid Icarus stand - summoning Ifrit is sooo good! I'm going to be really disappointed if the motorbike Shivas aren't in there somewhere. I just ordered the game on Amazon - thanks for the heads up. |

I was devastated when I found out this would only be released for the 3DS, I love rhythm games, I haven't played much of the final fantasy games (just the third one for the iPad) but I'm familiar with a lot of the characters so I'd probably love this game. I might have to save up for a 3DS and this game, along with Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, another game for the 3DS.

Apparently the game is pretty heavy on story spoilers, so you might want to think about that before you pick it up.
Do you have any other systems besides iOS? Final Fantasy 3 is one of the games that I like the least! |

Oh don't worry, I don't fancy getting every game one by one, I hade a Nintendo DS Lite and a PSP but it doesn't look they sell games for them anymore.
