Cats chewing through wires!
The latest one is today which is the baby monitor which is an important one! We have 3 cats and it is the youngest two who are 4 years and 2 years old that keep chewing through wires in the house. They don't do it all the time just now and again.
Do they always do this or do they grow out of it? Any suggestions on how I can stop them doing it before we run out of money replacing the devices they have chewed the wires to?

Our cat, who lives with my mum now lol as we are not allowed pets in this flat, liked to do this occasionally too, he was biting through the phone cable, much to my dads annoyance when he was in the middle of his important ebaying (hehe)
They tried putting down a drop of clove oil next to the line, as he hates the smell of course, but that seemed to be short lived and it was a bit overpowering. Another thing that seems to have worked is spraying a bit of vapet get off spray from time to time, think that did the trick and the smell is not too bad and it is a lot safer, I haven't heard of any more reports of wire munching since before xmas, so fingers crossed! |

On a related note, a member of my family has a catheter bag, and at night it gets connected to a night bag. To stop the cats chewing the tubing, the carers put lemon juice and salt on it. Seems to work.

We used to cat proof by putting all wiring through plumbing pipes which can be quite cheaply bought from DIY stores and screwed to walls or skirting boards if needed.
