profender query

Hi, has anyone ever had a cat with hairloss or overgrooming problems found to have been as a result of a Profender application?

What makes you think it was the wormer?

saw a post on another forum about a cat who 'overgroomed' after the treatment, and wondered if it was a side effect as my cat has the same problem, but I can't find a cause for it. Just wondered.

it might be an allergy to it, but it could also be caused by stress so just the application of the wormer could be a stressor!

how long has it been going on? has anything else changed in the house?

no change in food or circumstances, have tried Feliway and seen vet, other than the hair loss he seems fine. Hopefully it'll improve, but I'd love to know what's causing it.

Is difficult with cats, because you don't know what's upset them, but it does sound like a reaction. Just Incase it's stress, make sure his bed is in a quiet area, and lie can relax in it. If you see him grooming, try. Ot to stop him, it may be a coping mechanism, and although he's loosing fur, it's better than him getting stressed because he can't do it, then it building up to something ore serious. Instead try to look for clues around the area when he's actually grooming, see if there is anything new, different etc.

Good luck!

I only used it once on ours. No hairloss or overgrooming but it did make the fur on the backs of their necks really sticky. It took a few weeks to grow out properly. We're back on tablets 'hidden' in treats now.

It could be that your cat is overgrooming to try to remove the sticky hairs.
