T-Mobile: can you ring up and buy a 'gold' number?

Hi guys

I wondered if anyone knows (for definite) whether T-Mobile offer custom numbers or easy numbers if you ring up. I obviously expect to pay!

I know there's other ways of doing it - eBay then porting etc, but my question is purely do T-Mobile themselves offer this? Pleas don't do guess-work, I want a definate answer - if not I will have to call them in the morning.

I'm on Pay Monthly with them.

Thanks

I used to work for them a few years back and yes you could then. Their range however was nowhere near as good as what you'd find on ebay.

Unfortunately I can't give you a definitive answer now though.

And in threads like these the same questions crop up from the ignorant so I'll save them the time and effort by answering before they ask:

Tradesmen (plumbers, builders etc) use them as they're easy to remember if a potential customer sees the number on the side of their van. Plenty of people have plenty of other legit reasons for buying them. Yes we know you think it's mostly vanity for people with more money than sense.

There, that should cover everything :-)

So, what other reasons are there?

Rang them up this morning. £86 to choose your own number, you can chose any 6 digits to follow a range of prefixes that they offer.

It was about £70 when I worked there. Not a bad deal considering you can chose the 6 digits however the ones on eBay often include a related prefix too. I've sold a few on there in my time, the most I ever made was £40 for one number and in total I must have made £250 from it over the years

Why didnt you do that in the first place, rather than starting a thread on DS?

Because I plain and simply couldn't be bothered ringing them at the time.

Ok with you?
