dont get me wrong, im a HUGE nintendo fan and being honest, the lack of the second stick does not bother me because Nintendo will do what they do and give us gems like Luigis Mansion and NSMB2 etc.....

the lack of the charger is ..well just wrong

and they have even made the kid icarus stand redundant.

A charger should come with the unit but if it were to be priced fairly then I would understand a bit better. I'm not sure how much they cost separately though.

The Kid Icarus stand should work with the XL, I read somewhere that Nintendo assured us it will.

I think the machine looks gorgeous and I think the 3D will really benefit from the bigger screens. I'm also mostly interested in the picture quality, I've not read any detailed reports on it yet but I'm hoping it will be like the DSi XL and feature artificial scanlines rather than a filter so we get super sharp image and the ability to finally play VC/DSiWare and DS games at their native res on a large screen too.

Lastly, I hope that bloody D-pad has been sorted or I will never forgive Nintendo.

Roughly £6-£10 for the AC Adapter on it's own, and somewhere between £15-£20 for the AC Adapater and cradle.
It is down to retail's descretion in the U.K, but I imagine the US and JP have a fixed price.

its going to cost £200 for the machine, charger and cradle and as much as i would like one, you can buy an x360 for that...and its probabaly a third of my Wii U budget...

its an nice machine and for the cost of it, should have included the charger with the option to buy the cradle.

12 days untill the 3DS XL is released in Europe and Japan.

I can't wait to get my Blue/Black 3DS XL.

And normally us in the UK have to wait weeks and some times months after the Japanese release of a game or in the case console.

I am glad then that I don't live in the USA. They might only have a few weeks longer to wai for the 3DS XL but it is still after the European and Japanese release.

Hopefully Play.com will deliver mine on the 28th July aulthought I will have to wait untill I get home from work to have a play around with it.

I am still trying to find a 3DS XL carry case but so far I have had no luck.

I'm tempted to upgarde but

The 'sweet spot' you need to position the console in to make the auto-stereoscopic onscreen images match-up is far more forgiving, and the extra air causes less strain on your eyes than the original console did. But it's still far from perfect, with slight movements splintering the image into two.

Where the screens suffer most, however, is in resolution degradation. While the screens are bigger, the games remain at a resolution of 800x240, just blown up to fill the space. It's not a huge downgrade in visual fidelity, but jagged edges are more prominent and individual pixels easier to pick out.

The resolution is unchanged but it's not simply blown up as it would look incredibly ugly, it has subtle scanlines which help separate the pixels and gives a clean, sharper look. No question it will still look more jaggy and low resolution but I think the significant increase in screen size and the effect it has on the 3D makes it worth it. I still play on my DSi XL and that has a very low resolution but I like the chunky look of the graphics.

As I said before I would happily trade in my old 3DS for an XL but I refuse to lose all of my downloaded software, it should be tied to an account, I did hear that if you register your console with club Nintendo, which mine is, then everything can be re-downloaded but I'm not 100% sure how accurate this info it.

I'm not interested in the XL, IMO the 3DS is fine as it is and I prefer the pocket size, I didn't buy the original XL so I'm not phased by the 3DSXL

It's probably a controversial opinion as most people seem to think a second circle pad is essential and that Nintendo have dropped the ball but I take the view that the N64, Dreamcast and Wii all done 3D gameplay just fine without one, and they were home consoles.

Gaming is not defined by twin sticks, the touchscreen works fine for most if not all camera control in 3D games (something the PSP lacked) and is actually superior for more precise aiming, as seen in Kid Icarus. There's only a handful of games that support dual circle pads and for those desperate enough there will still be the add-on device but I think Nintendo are trying to distance themselves from it.

And in order to play the small amount of games that actually have the circle pad as an option (it isn't required in any game), they'd also have to add two extra triggers or patch the games to add a different control scheme.

2 circle pads are the best way to control a character in 3D space using a control pad. One to control the camera and the other to control movement.

The new 3DS XL uses a anti reflective coating reducing reflections from 12% to 3% improving the 3D effect.
