TalkTalk Fibre Question

Hi guys, just wanted to get a question answered.

I found out today that the exchange I use for my broadband is due to be upgraded for fibre optic in December/January, and wanted to know if I'd be able to get a better speed than I do now. Currently I only get 1-2Mb/s download and 0.31 Mb/s upload, and I'm really excited that fibre optic is finally coming to where I live. (I'm a big online gaming fan and the speed I get now causes a lot of lag when I'm playing. Also would love to be able to start uploading videos of game play to YouTube, but it takes too long with my current upload speed)

I live approximately 2 miles away from the exchange, and wanted to how much that 2 miles will affect the fibre optic speed?

Thanks

it is not how far you are form the exchange, but how far you are away from the cabinet,

Maybe best thing is go onto the BT site here and click on the check your speed, it may give you a bit of a idea, or it may not.

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up for me noise.

I did what you said and the BT site says currently I'm getting Between 1.0Mb and 3.5Mb and if I get fibre it should be around 64Mb.

Thanks for your help!

No problem.
That is better than 1 to 3.5 megabits, i have read that Bt under estimates with Fibre so you may get more. you just have to wait, but the dates may change they have here a few times, but it seems like they are now getting some cabinets in.

too late for me anyway, I chosen another route.
