If this were really Eastenders (which it isn't anymore) and if Lorraine Newman wants to get it back to what it was in its glory days (sorry, but they were not 2000-2002), then this has to happen:

The reveal is public, in the Vic (because all the Vic's landlords/landladies caught cheating have been publically shamed on their premises - think Sharon, think Frank Butcher), and on a night when there's a driving rain. The pub will be packed as Kat's sent packing. Alfie gives her divorce papers, cab fare and shoves her in the back of a cab. That's it. Good-bye.

She may well go on the game. She did before when he kicked her ass out. But when a couple split bigtime over infidelity, one - usually the guilty party - leaves the Square: Sharon, Cindy Beale (twice), Frank. Santer changed that dynamic, and all we got were yo-yo couples.

And this is the result of Kirkwood tampering with character before. Alfie Moon has a strong moral core when it comes to marriage and relationships. He didn't stand for this shit when she pulled it before in 2004 and he kicked her out. He actually moved on without her. This version of Alfie is part of Kirkwood's effort to play up the weakest aspects of all the male characters' traits - except the pretty ones like Jack and the Goons.

I remember when Alfie came onto the Square, and Louise Berridge was touting that, beneath his laddish exterior, he did have a dark side; but all that got swept away in the panic move to raise Den from the dead. Kirkwood hinted as much earlier in the year, but then he got distracted too.

I'm still waiting for Syed's and Christian's wedding.

Plus, when one character left, that was because the actors wanted to. They are hardly going to axe a character for nothing.

Alfie makes excuses for her behaviour as well. I remember when they all got into the row at the R and R, and spent the night in the cells. Alfie was with Billy and told him the baby wasn't his. Billy asked him how he could stand that, and he muttered something like "Well, you know, Kat's like that ..."

You know who makes excuses for people who do what Kat does? Abuse victims. And that's exactly what Alfie is.

They've already been down the prostitution route with Kat, when she returned in 2005 after her maternity leave it was revealed she'd been in prison for prostitution.

I dont think Alfie will kick her out sadly, he never does. She cheats on him and treats him like dirt and he never chucks her out. He sulks for a bit then tries to be nice to her only for her to throw it back in his face and continue to treat him like crap and then she cheats again and repeats the cycle. She even cheated on him with his own cousin AND had his baby and he still took her back instantly!! Again just last year she cheated on him with Mickey from the Bill, did he kick her out? No he just sulked for a bit then throws himself into doing nice things for her, she continues to be awful to him and then cheats again. Repeat cycle.
