There is no way that Lloyd would have been fooled by Tracey.

Why did Kirsty need a taxi when she has her own car?
Eileen sent 3 drivers for a pick up "at the airport" without telling them who they were picking up or how many people. As a matter of interest - I don't know Manchester Airport - does it only have one terminal and one pick up point? |

![]() Whenever I fly into an airport and want a cab, I just get in one already at the airport. I don't ring a cab firm and get them to send one out! |

When I return home I also get a taxi from the airport taxi rank. The other option would be to book the return pick up before you actually leave with the firm that took you to the airport. In either case, you are not going to call for a taxi on arrival and wait for it to get there. You could be well on the way home by then!!! |

[quote=ewoodie;59334178][quote]I flew from there a couple of weeks ago . No it doesn't have one terminal. It has two and they are not close together.
![]() Manchester has three terminals (sorry to be pedantic)

Absolutely! Biggest SOR of the evening! Also, I noticed that the sign for Fare Ladies which was hanging in Lloyd's new premises looked old and tatty! Is the company name an old one just taken over by Lloyd or is it a new one completely? If it's the latter it's a bit of a SOR not to have new flyers! |

To be honest, Corrie has never actually got it right about how minicab firms are run. They do not directly employ
drivers for a start. Minicab drivers are classed as self employed, they use their own cars, licensed as taxis by the local council, and pay the cab firm every week for the rental of the in car radio communicator. The only members of staff usually employed directly by a mincab firm are the base operators. I was a part time base operator at a local minicab firm for 6 years, and my dad was a driver with the same firm for 8 years. He always used his own personal car as the taxi, and paid £45 per week "track" to rent the radio. |

I'd have to wade through the entire thread but you must have been talking a lot about Lloyd's taxi firm that he seemed to create in 5 minutes.
My observations, I'm sure some will have been pointed out already! He'd developed the logos, those things whatever you call them for the top of the cars and got an office overnight, how did he do that? I thought the storyline was that he'd arrived back from Jamaica practically broke. Wouldn't he have needed access to a computer to create the new firms logo or paid someone to do the graphic design for him? Good point, Kirsty drives anyway! I just got my licence and I'd sure rather spend £10 on fuel than on a taxi that only goes a few miles for the same! Wouldn't it take time to set up a new phone line (unless he operated from a mobile), and set up all the bureaucracy such as getting the radios licensed, and making sure that all the drivers were insured and held the right licenses to operate as a taxi. If you can set up your own taxi firm in less than 24 hours I'd like to do it because I've always been into maps and would like this as a job, but I suspect you can't! Coronation Street is supposed to be quite realistic isn't it? |

Where did Anna get the money to buy Faye a swanky new laptop? I thought she was broke 5 minutes ago, and had to get an extra job at the shop just to make ends meet.

[quote=ewoodie;59339824][quote=dingdongwitch;59335659]I don't think they actually said it was Manchester airport, just the airport. Obviously some field with a runway and a control tower.

How did the group at the airport even know Fare Ladies existed to phone them in the first place?
And I have to agree with previous posters I've never rang for a taxi from the airport as there are always loads available to hop into.

BIB Good point and Lloyd isn't that thick surely, 2 days of Tracy Barlow yesterday's disasters and now cabs breaking down. That's a bit fancy for a school sports day isn't it? |
