Is Dead Island Worth the 20 Quid on Zavvi?
I would very rarely buy a game as I think they are ridiculously over priced......but Dead Island spiked my interested with that brilliant "Rewind" trailer.
Still, there was no way I was buying it when it was first released. It's now down to 20 quid on Zavvi. Is it any good? How long is the gameplay?? Thanks in advance

It's 15 on ZAVVI. It's good game lots of things to do, varying amount of enemies. Getting DEV weapons is very fun, you get a Skull have put in a certain place, they are expensive to repair though.

Just compare the price of a bottle of coke and a bus fare now and 20 years ago and you get my point, calling games over priced is ignorant Anyway about the game its worth it, its a decent game |

I'd suggest watching some of the episodes from the many walkthroughs that are on YouTube (Major Slack's is a good one) as one of the many complaints about the game is how the trailer completely oversold the game, and the actual game play is much more mundane than the trailer would have you believe. Basically it's a quite repetitive first person melee game with the occasional long range weapon thrown in.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3Asc...feature=g-vrec I thought I'd like it, but I grew tired of it very quickly, and it's quite glitchy when it comes to clipping and the like. Regards Mark |

It's alright but has an annoying Boss at the end and because the zombies level at the same rate as you it never feels like your character progresses. No repeat value for me.

It's worth the money. The game has an atmosphere to it that really works imo, the distant noises of the roaming undead and the spine tingling roars and screams when they're attacking freak me out every time!
The game might have its flaws but as far as survival horror gos, this will leave Resi Evil 6 dead in the water. |

Yeh I like but it could have been better. The overall atmosphere of the game feels great. However as mentioned earlier the Zombies level with you which is a bad idea. Also you do not get penalised for dieing, you just get re-spawned a small distance from your current location. So that kind of takes away from the 'survival horror' theme. because of that fact all strategy is removed from the game and it's a case of just running in Rambo style with no thought for your own life. So those 2 elements, the zombies levelling with you and not getting penalised for dieing make it repetitive. If they fix those 2 issues with Dead Island 2 it will be an outstanding game.

I loved this game and got 50+ hours out of it before I completed it. I liked it so much that I statred playing again with a different character ten mins after I clocked it.
Worth the money if you ask me. Play it in the dark and put the 5.1on

DI is very good especially if playing co-op although the city segment does drag a bit and the fast zombies are a pain in the arse as they come from nowhere with no warning. |

Games are not overpriced and they never have been they have always been priced at a reasonable amount, i remember the gamecube came out the games where £50-65 and nobody bought them and they quickly lowered them to the accepted market price of £30-40 If you feel priced out of games because of how much they are then that is to bad games are a priviledge not a right and sometimes people need to remember that |

I remember when NES games were out, and there were rows and rows in Toys R Us and they were £39.99 then, and that was in around 1993.

It can be very fun, but it can also be really infuriating.
Don't get fooled by the "Game of the Year" tag either; it got very mixed reviews from critics. |

I enjoyed this, Good fun in co-op, I don't get the hate! I never had any glitches...
I might buy the GOTY edition as it comes with all the DLC which I haven't played. Does anyone know if the DLC comes loaded onto the disc or do you have a leaflet with the dlc codes on? |
