For me they are all popstars, no movie star gets a look in. Maybe a year or two ago Robert Pattinson would have been in my list but now the top 5 in no particular order is;

Pop ? Globally ? Probably Lady Ga Ga ? It depends who is popular in most countries and countries with a very high population doesn't it. As most pop is pretty rubbish these days maybe it doesn't matter who, is top.

But it all depends on the definition. George Clooney and Brad Pitt are still the most recognisable actors but they're not "current" in terms of box office appeal to the extent of someone like RDJ or maybe Leo DiCaprio.

On the other hand, The Hemsworth brothers would be on the "rising star" side. They've got roles in some of the biggest films of 2012 - The Avengers, The Hunger Games, Snow White and the Huntsman and one of them is marrying Miley Cyrus!

The only reason SRK has a large number of fans is because of India's huge population, his worldwide appeal isn't even on the same radar to Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt. India has 1.3 billion people, but there are another 5 billion + people in the world.

All of the Hollywood A and B List are far more famous and wealthier and successful that any Bollywood Star and always will be.

Are we talking "music superstars" or superstars in general...

Twitter doesn't prove alot, in my opinion..
A singer's career relies much more on the use of twitter than an actor's/athlete's. So it's not surprising singers tend to have lots of followers.

I just think she's an artist with plenty of hype at the moment (in an industry that 'wacky' females are currently dominating)..
All these artists have their time in the limelight.

I never said she wasn't a "superstar" But she's nowhere near top 5.

I guess this all depends on our definition on "superstar"
If you see Kim Kardashian as one, all it means is:
'somebody with lots of press at the moment'

I think of a superstar more as somebody who :
'Has a job'
'Is seen as "top-class" at that job'
and, 'almost everyone (literally) knows, by face atleast'

Do you know how many countries SRK has fans in ? Germany, UK,United States, Greece, Malasia etc etc. It's not just in India. Cruise reportedly has about 100 to 300 million dollars. SRK about 600,000 million dollars.

I'm not saying that as if it's a sort of competition but because it's astonishing, when one actually looks at figures.
