Don McLean's version of "Crying" is better than Roy Orbison's. Rumour has it, Roy even said himself that Don has mastered the song to perfection!

I can't hear that song now without thinking of this:

Agreed though, Don McLean did sing it better. But then Don McLean's voice is easier on the ear than Roy Orbison's.

That never fails to make me laugh Seriously, Don's version is more heartfelt and emotional....it does move me to be honest sometimes. Roy's is good, but too jaunty imo.

His American Pie went on a bit though didn't it! Two sides of a 45"!!! And I thought Seasons in the Sun had too many verses!

Jimi Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower is far superior to Bob Dylan's.

Same with Manfred Mann's Mighty Quinn, although Just Like a Woman is debatable.

The Byrds versions of Mr Tambourine Man and All I really want to do are also better.

Although all versions of Mr Tamborine Man quiver in the shadow of William Shatners version. It's why God invented ears.

Shatner's version of anything really - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Common People. All good for a laugh!

I wonder what he was on back then?

I totally agree with whoever said Angus & Julia Stone on 'You're The One That I Want'. I love all their stuff though.

I also LOVE Arctic Monkey's cover of 'Diamonds Are Forever' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlHsJ_Ct0jc

Also, Wakey!Wakey! did a series of covers. One was of Rihanna's 'We Found Love'. I really dislike Rihanna's stuff, but this makes me loveeee her song http://soundcloud.com/wakey-wakey-mu...ove-rihanna-ft

And also, Greg Laswell's version of 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' is AMAZING. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWj8fxTlC-w

You know what, you're right. It's actually a very decent cover but obviously was never taken seriously because of who was singing it. Not as good as original though

Good version, but better than the original by the Everly Brothers? I don't think so.
