Managed to get tickets today to the badminton and the modern pentathlon final events.

I don't like to think about how much I've spent now, got tickets for Archery, Badminton, Football, Hockey, Beach Volleyball, Boxing and Modern Pentathlon!

Incidentally my tickets that I mentioned earlier not having arrived came today so no panic on those ones

Same

I originally wasn't going to go at all (don't live anywhere near London and was interviewed for volunteering well over a year ago and still haven't received a response so I was feeling very ambivalent to the Games as a whole), but Wimbledon has got me back in the tennis mood, the Olympics are a once in a lifetime opportunity and I now get a mini-break in London and a catch-up with a good friend, paid for partly by birthday money, so I'm very happy

I look at it in the way that I love the Olympics, I've been promising myself to get to this Olympics ever since 2005 and I'll never get the opportunity to watch them on my doorstep in my lifetime again so I'm happy to gloss over the monetary aspect!

I've arranged all my tickets into 3 weekend days, hope the tube stands all the strain cos I'm going to be going from the Olympic park to Horse guards parade then to the Excel on one day!

I agree, it's like a once in a life time thing isn't it?

I have most of my events from 3rd - 8th August (just the canoe sprint on the 11th outside this time).

Probably be a tight squeeze getting from the equestrian to volleyball on the 6th, but otherwise should be okay i think.

Finally got these tickets this week! Excited!

Unfortunately it looks like i'll not be going..amazingly i cannot get anyone to go with me and given i don't know London at all and how huge it is and how busy it will be, i wouldn't feel comfortable going on my own.

It's a real shame, cus i promised myself i would go when it was announced we won the games, it was a big target and ambition to experience it, which people close to me knew so it's quite annoying nobody is being very supportive and i'll be missing out, but hey ho.

Guess i'll just be glued to the tv instead.

I'm going to half of the events on my own, and I am sure I won't be alone in going to some events alone, don't let it put you off...

It's not so much going to the events alone that bothers me, no issue with that, it's being in London when i have no knowledge of it that makes me a bit nervous about going alone. I will get lost, that's just going to happen! lol

If your with someone, even if they are in the same boat as you, makes a difference i think.

Also the safety aspect.

I'm going on my own for a full week. Considering the logistics of organising it for myself alone, it would be a nightmare doing it for three or if I'd kids.

You'll not get lost, London is easy to find your way about, despite the size.

Got a Royal Mail text this morning saying the rest of ma tickets are being delivered today!

If you use the internet to plan, you'll be fine. When in central London it's very hard to get lost as you are always near to a tube station.

I'm going to the Men's Road Race on my own. So between the start and finish of the race I have approx. 6 hours in which I have to entertain myself, bearing in mind I'm going to be hideously nervous the whole time - might take a book.

As T V Queen says there will be volunteers guiding at every station in London. You live in Leicestershire I see. Straight forward is to arrive at St Pancras and jump on the Javelin Train to the Park. 6 minutes.

I'll be there on my own as well.

When I applied for two tickets in the initial ballot and my wife said she wasn't really bothered I was thinking she'll come around but I now realise that with the thought of leaving home at around 4am to make our way to East London SHE REALLY ISN'T BOTHERED!.

As a result I'll have a spare ticket for the Hockey, picked up the single ticket to the Athletics a few weeks ago.

As I undertand it whilst they have sold Olympic Park Tickets for the first week ( not the 2nd week) they have split the sessions into two to spread the load. Actually if you have a 4pm ticket you can still enter at 9.00am if you want. Nothing prevents you.

They cant clear the whole Park of spectators in any case as events go on in stages all day.

Did you pay £6 delivery? I am going to Beach Volleyball on the 1st August, so thought about getting a couple of these passes for the aftenoon session, but I just can't abide paying £6 delivery for £15 worth of tickets!

When I booked my tennis ones last week they had the option of collecting in London, but not for these ones?!

I've just booked for the 1st August and yes, I paid delivery. I'm just looking at it as the £6 covering my travel for the day rather than me ending up maxing out my Oyster card! And seeing as it's a day pass for (at least) 5 hours, I intend to make the most of it. I'm only going to the tennis, so I thought it was worth buying a pass to check out the Olympic site as well as I wouldn't be going otherwise.

I already have the day travel passes as I am going to Beach Volleyball. So it is a ridiculous amount of money for delivery! I am going to the athletics the following week but my 6 year old sister that I am taking to the BV won't be. So it would be more for her benefit...I might just go to the free event in Hyde Park instead?

No. That's what they want you to do but I asked at my venue volunteer training and they confirmed pretty much what Department S said.
