If it turns out the branded man is indeed Grandpapa then it'll be a bit of an anti-climax!

You guys are confusing overnights with consolidated figures. Bedlam series 1 was getting something like 250,000 overnights - the consolidated figure (i.e. everyone who watched during the 7 days following) bumped it up to the 6 or 700,000 mark.

So the episode 1 figure for this series is very similar and holds up well against series 1.

Digital Spy is pretty terrible at interpreting viewing figures. It's always reporting things as doing badly that aren't and vice versa. Overnights are a dying indicator anyway...

I enjoyed the first series, but the first two episodes of this series have struggled to hold my attention.

Week 1 406k ( overnights not including +1) consolidated 742k. Anytime/repeats over a million

Week 2 374k (overnights not including +1) consolidated 670k with repeats over 900k

Week 3 320k ( overnights not including +1) consolidated 639k With repeats over 900k

The writers also tweeted theses figures at the end of the series

Quote:
#bedlam averaged over 700K viewers an episode (and that's excluding repeats) during its run. Cracking figures. Thanks if you were one of em

We'll see how the ratings fluctuate throughout series 2.
Nearly a quarter of a million is quite good for SKYLIVING.
Ratings taken from the Guardian

The final episode of Sky Living's six-part supernatural drama Bedlam, which finished with 257,000 viewers between 10pm and 11pm.

I think the 4th episode dipped to 189k but then climbed to 248k for episode 5

They're a great double act...and you can see Tim Roth in Max....

Yes who is Eve.

But the Swimmer didn't look fit enough, to be at the top of her game, but still believable.

And Ellie with the Symbol....

Saw the second episode a few hours ago and yeah, still an improvement on the first series.

I still think Ellie and Max are a good ghost busting duo, the Eve thing seems interesting enough and the fact that Ellie, Warren and that bald man seem to have the same tattoo is a nice twist.

The stuff with the swimming couple was actually quite good as well, especially the end bit too.

Still not really bothered about Dan or Kiera but despite my dislike for her, I am wondering what happened to Kate now.

Saw this for the first time last night, is it always so slow and so little happens? At the rate the story was developed last night I reckon you would need 20 series to get any where near what causes it all.
Even though I was underwhelmed I will watch again as there is so little on these days.

Be interesting to see how series two timeshifts. Wednesday's 250k isn't that far behind the rating for week three. Seems that timeshift becomes more important every year too.

Second series ok. Thought Lacey Turner was a great actress in Enders....til I realised she is exactly the same in this....feisty and a bit nuts.

Final BARB ratings for episode one:

666,000 for first wednesday 6 June showing (Number one for week on Sky Living) [Over 200% timeshift]
77,000 on plus 1 for wednesday 6 June showing

183,000 watched the Sunday repeat (Number seven for the week on Sky living)

Seems perfectly healthy, especially since overnights were up for episode two.

Edited to add: that 666 figure seems oddly appropriate

That was an amazing cliffhanger Look like we may get answers next week.

Seemed like a fairly standard ghost of the week episode otherwise - obviously lacked the shock factor of last week's but there was some nice direction and use of visual imagery. Really annoyed at Ellie for sleeping with Dan, he's such a slimeball. I know they're fictional characters but that part of the episode was the creepiest/scariest for me.

Just seems the same as the first series.

Dont expect there to be any answers - just keep rehashing the old, you have disturbed spirit of someone who died an awful death in that room.

Episode 3 wasn't great, okay in parts but the wedding stuff with Reeta was pretty boring and I kind of wish we didn't have to see Ellie sleeping with Dan while Max is pining for her.

The Eve stuff is still interesting enough though we need to progress it a bit now.

ECT is a topic that makes me really squeamish. A well done possessed child story, although the conclusion was way too quick and simple.

I wonder who Eve is? Must be someone connected to Ellie in some way. Could there be a connection between that and her pregnancy. Coud Hugo Speer's character somehow be the Branded Man?

Ellie's pregnant with Dan's kid and Dan is Warren's other kid. Well, suddenly Dan became a little more interesting as a character. Less interesting was him sleeping with Kiera though.

Nice that Warren has finally copped onto the fact that Kate has gone missing.

I still like Max as a character but apart from pining after Ellie and helping with the spooky stuff, he needs something more I suppose.

The stuff with the kids and the big brother was interesting enough.

What are the odds that Ellie and Eve are somehow related to each other?

I thought it was okay myself, but your man from White Van Man is not a good actor and I found him pretty annoying in this one as well. I didn't mind his mates but they were hardly memorable characters.

The connection between Ellie and Eve sort of makes sense and feels a little obvious in retrospect but overall, it's believable for me not to dislike it though.

I can't decide if Max's pining for Ellie is endearing or annoying. Perhaps it's both and I like Max.

Kiera is improving as a character, Dan too as well as Warren and the mystery of Kate's disappearance made me wish they had just revealed it in the first episode.

She did say she had an abortion.

She also deduced that the little girl who's been stalking her is actually her.

I liked that finale.

The subplot with Max's dad, Ellie being Jed's sister and her own confrontation with her own father, plus Warren's 'suicide' as well and the last scene alone does make me hope there's going to be another run of episodes to be honest.

I didn't really like Kiera and Dan did much in this episode, though the former's mistrust in Warren and the latter's open mindedness towards him sort of made more sense.

This show still isn't perfect but it's come a long way from the more mundane first series and that's a good thing.

I really enjoyed Series 1, I think Charlotte Salt was great as Kate so I was really disappointed to hear she wasn't staying on for Season Two. But at the same time, I understand that her presence in the series would of removed something as her connection to her Dad and then to Ellie/Max would of been too close, Ellie would of found out about herself too quickly so it some ways, she needed to go but I'm a little surprised they killed her off - with Warren gone, I think they needed her around for Series 3. Personally, if I was the writer, I'd of simply had her kidnapped so she could of appeared in episode one, episode six and then after Warren's death, stay on for Series 3. I worry without Warren or Kate, Series 3 will lack a proper tie to Bedlam and it's history.

I think doing away with Will Young was the right move, I don't think he was completely right for the role as ideally, you'd of wanted his character to pair up with both Jed and later Ellie but I couldn't of believed his attraction to Ellie as I'm sorry, Will is far too camp! I also think Jed was a weak link, Lacey is a much stronger actor and even though his death was somewhat unexpected, I think it paid off.

I was sad to see Ashley Madekwe as it seemed Keira basically replaced Molly. It was almost like-for-like casting. Interesting, both appeared in Secret Diary of a Call Girl. I think Molly could easily of played the same role as Keira, partnering up with Warren etc...

Series 2 was a marked improvement on Series 1, mainly due to Turner's presence, but I have serious reservations about Series 3.
