Twin Peaks - Rerun on The Horror Channel Mondays at 9pm!

Well i missed half of it...but really wanted to get into the show...always in polls and a favourite in cult fandom...and has always intrigued me! and really loved what i have seen of the first episode.

So basically want to know who else loves the show? what can i expect? and should i just go all out and buy the seasons on DVD?

thanks!

I've been watching it on netflix. It starts out great, but don't get your hopes up too much because series 2 starts to lose the plot quite a lot. Although its always kind of fun.

I know there is at least one movie, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

It's a prequel about the night before Laura Palmer dies. I've not seen it though.

ah i see yeah just reading right now the US media backlashed against the film while British media and more worldwide reviews were positive towards it....very interesting.

And yes aparently reading at the DVDs overview season 2 has multiple plot strands to focus on.

I reckon itll be worth it £20....yeah may splash out soon really liked what i saw of the first episode

And it has this scene here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iJUs-4z2lY in which David Bowie discusses the Wizard of Oz. Maybe.

Fire Walk With Me, dispenses with logic and throws you into a nightmare, you'd likely either love it or hate it, I loved it.

(I was amazed the bbfc lowered it's rating recently from 18 to 15. One of the scariest movies ever, in my 'umble opinion.)

The film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is a prequel to the TV series, so don't watch it first as it will spoil the central mystery of Laura Palmer's murder.

It has aged significantly better than anything else made just a year or two earlier. Twin Peaks pretty much reinvented TV drama and opened the door for The X-Files, Desperate Housewives and countless other glossy and cinematic shows.

Definitely buy it, there's little doubt it falls off a cliff for several season 2 episodes, but it pulls it together again in the end. And season 1 of Twin Peaks is one of the best seasons of any tv show ever.

ah sweet i totally willl....reckon i will order this week, thanks guys!

and yeah i read Marc Cherry who created Desperate Housewives said Lynch and in particular Twin Peaks inspired him to make the show...i know Joss Whedon has mentioned it as an influence i think for Buffy episode Restless (season 4 finale...phenomenal!) that dreamscape/cinematic approach through minimalism...and basically Chris Carter for the X Files totally got that vibe!

So yeah i cannot wait to be consumed into the world and will buy that film after i have seen the series then

Rewatching the pilot tonight, I'd forgotten just how good and how revolutionary it was at the time.

I've got the Gold Edition boxset of this, but only watched Season 1 before getting distracted other things, so was pleasant to see the pilot again. I'll need to watch the rest of it again, one way or another.

Cant wait until Albert turns up. Miguel Ferrer (not sure of the spelling) is awesome.

It's some of the best TV ever. It's also very multi-genre, with elements of horror, comedy, SF, detective, supernatural, domestic violence, romance...

That said, some episodes are better than others, and it does wander off into the grass in the second series. (Which rarely gets shown nowadays; I doubt Horror will show it.)

Twenty quid is an absolute steal for Twin Peaks. One of the most intriguing shows ever. It does tail off towards the end a bit after the network intervention but still good. Make sure you watch the Log Lady introductions, weird.

Fire Walk With Me just got released on Blu-ray too. Might have to get myself that as I still haven't seen it.

The sound is knackered on the bluray, there are occasional skips in the mix including in a key point in the final scene, which ruins it. Dunno if universal have recalled it yet, but amazon stopped selling it at one point, I returned mine. There was also controversy because it was claimed to be 1080p on the box, but the actual disc was 1080i.

In short, this release was a debacle.

Edit: amazon still aren't selling it, so I guess it is not fixed yet.

The reason the FWWM disc is pricey is that disc was only released on 4th June, it's only been out for a month. Though the sound is apparently knackered on that too.
