DoDonPachi Resurrection PAL release confirmed

![]() Like Deathsmiles it will be the deluxe version including the bonus soundtrack CD. I think it has an RRP set at £30 atm but that might come down closer to the release. Another shooter that's coming to the UK is Otomedius Excellent (If you are a fan of Parodius you will love this) but I don't think there is a date set for that at the moment. We also have Radiant Silvergun coming to XBLA this year too! So plenty to keep shmup fans happy. ![]() Here's a trailer for DDP Resurrection <here> |

Here's some more good news, Rising Star Games plan on bringing more Cave shooters to PAL territories after DDP Resurrection.

So finally the release is almost upon us. I should be receiving my deluxe edition sometime this week from ShopTo and post my impressions shortly after, I'm really looking forward to it.
![]() Not sure if the high-street shops will be stocking it, they did with Deathsmiles and it sold well so chances are it will be. Is anyone else from here buying it? There's also been some other great news: Quote:
Never though this one would make it over, it looks gorgeous. I really enjoyed Progear and this shares similar gameplay. We are getting spoiled with all these awesome shmups, once again it's like the 360 picks up where the Dreamcast left off. ![]() Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OAiH...feature=relmfu |

Got this delivered today. Nice package, includes the soundtrack CD too. I'm currently playing it through on Xbox 360 Novice mode....oh dear lol this game is NUTS hard BUT.. it's bloody brilliant.
I don't think I've ever seen so many bullets and sprites flying around the screen at once like in this game, it is one of the best looking games in the genre for sure, there's some real eye candy going on here. The game has a pretty similar front end set up to XBLA Guwange, it allows you to stretch the screen, change wallpapers, add a score box to the side and a huge amount of other customisation. There's quite a few modes to play through too and I also see that the Black Label DLC is now on the store for 800 points for anyone interested. I'll be definitely picking that up. So this is a great game, I thought DDP Dai Ou Jou was crazy but this game takes it to another level, it's crushingly difficult but that's where the fun is, and you can play on easier modes like me before you work your way up lol. It's pretty much the king of all bullet hell shmups. |

So was wondering if anyone else picked up Akai Katana and if so what are your opinions? I really enjoy it, has a bit of a strange scoring mechanic but once you get used to it it's a fun but hard game. Slash mode is probaly my favourite, it has that similar over the top gameplay seen in other Cave shooters where the screen slows to a crawl due to the amount of pick ups and bullets flying about, it's pretty satisfying. Akai Katana has a gorgeous sondtrack too, a shame we weren't treated to a soundtrack CD for this reelase.
![]() I wonder what's next for Rising Star, they have helped quench my thirst enough for me not to import a JP 360 but there's still so many great region locked games I would love to own such as Raiden IV, Senko no Ronde DUO, Shooting Love 200X, Otomedius and Ketsui. There is actually another shmup soon to be released in Japan called Ginga Force, it's developed by Qute who are the same guys who made Eschatos. Since that is one of my favouite shmups of this gen I'm pretty excited for it, but no-one is sure if it will be region free yet. Eschatos was and judging from their reply to an email it seems like they want it to happen. Fingers crossed. |

OK so some great news for 360 shmup fans.
First up Ginga Force developed by Qute (makers of Eschatos) has recently announced via twitter that the game will be Region free. Hooray! The game has been delayed until October but I'm just happy I'll be able to play it now, already pre-ordered at Play Asia. There'a new trailer too [here] Next up, it has been annoucned by Rising Star Games that the next game they will be bringing to Xbox 360 PAL shmup fans is Under Defeat HD Deluxe Edition (due this Autumn). Some of you may of played this on the Dreamcast and this is a VERY nice update that got a Japanese release earlier this year. I'm so glad this is coming as it was region locked in Japan. Lastly it has been announced by Cave that DoDonPachi Saidaioujou is coming to the Xbox 360 in 2013. Pretty huge news considering how popular the game was in the arcades and given how most people thought Cave had wrapped up development on 360 for the time being, obviously not! according to Cave, Microsoft were the ones who convinced them to port it, now perhaps they can convince them to make it region free too? Failing that RSG may pick it up for a PAL release. Either way shmups are not slowing down any in 2012 on 360. More info [here] |
