Copy & Paste Issue
Hello there,
Having a problem when I try and copy and paste something say from a website to an email (lets say this text for example) when I go to Outlook 2007 and paste in, all I get is a black circle (I have attached a picture) I tried a search and the workround is to disable some bluetooth driver in Word but that doesn't have any effect. Has anyone else come across this and did they resolve it? [img=http://img23.imagevenue.com/loc509/th_722816398_Outlook_122_509lo.jpg] |

As a simply workaround, try pasting the text into Notepad first and then copy/pasting it into Outlook.
Or in Outlook, go to Format Text / Paste / Paste Special / Unformatted Text (or try one of the other options). Either way, the success of the end result will depend on the complexity of the source data. |

Its just simple text - nothing complicated - neither suggestions worked by the way, but thanks for replying.
When I go to paste special it only gives me an option to paste as a bitmap which is interesting as all I am doing is highlighting text. |

Is this any website or a specific one? Which browser are you using?

Why not copy and paste to Word first and then transfer to email from Word. If you cannot resolve your problem though, there is software you can try and buy called Abbyy Screenshot Reader. If you know someone who has an Epson printer, they might have it included with the installation CD. I have just bought an SX535WD and it's free as part of the bundle. You can save straight to email as a .bmp or save to Word (and other progs) as text and cut & paste from there. Here's the link to the product page: http://www.abbyy.com/screenshot_reader/

Using IE9 and any website affects it or makes it happen.
I'd rather not have to load Word every time but if that's the only solution...

Just to clarify, are you saying that you cannot copy & paste into Outlook only? Can you copy & paste into Notepad & Word?
...and is it only when you copy from a website? |

Say copy the link in the address bar for this post, it'll just put a circle in Outlook. |

Might be an add-on in IE causing it, or some clipboard enhancement software you once installed and forgot about.
Try opening up IE in Safe Mode (Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / (Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Or try a different browser to help narrow down the problem. |

Here's something that might work, although you've probably got it set up anyway:
1.Start Internet Explorer. 2.Click the Tools icon and click Internet Options. 3.Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset. 4.Click the Programs tab, and then click Set programs. 5.Click Set your default programs. 6.Click to select Microsoft Outlook, and then click Set this program as default. 7.Click OK, and then close the Default Programs dialog box. 8.In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Programs tab, and then click Make default under Default web browser. 9.Click OK. Also, have a look at this link as it might be an advanced setting in Outlook: http://malektips.com/outlook-2007-to...ns-button.html |

I posted about this issue a while back - with no resolution. It's driving me nuts.
If I copy from PDFs into Excel - I get the black blob first time round but not the second time. I have tried all sorts of remedies, but nothing seems to fix it. I have resigned myself to living with it. I have updated my BT driver, but have kept the instructions on how to disable the plug-in in case that doesn't work. |

To the OP and to others with sensitive eyes!
The pop up that also appeared when I clicked on your image link showed a live girls knickers close up (with girl inside the said knickers) was a surprise Using FF13.1 with adblock. |

Rich, what OS are you using? In W7 which I have and I believe also in Vista there is Reliability Monitor and event logs. Have you looked at either or both of these to see what (if any) error condition is being generated?
I wonder whether you have some application blocking the Windows Clipboard. Just out of interest, I noticed in your screenshot that your email message format is HTML. If you change the format to rich text, do you still get the problem? Another thought, are you using right click to copy and paste? Here's someone with a similar problem in Outlook 2007 who applied this fix: "Describing the problem made me think it might be related to the Outlook/office Paste options (Tools > Options > Mail Format > Editor Options.. > Advanced > Cut, Copy & Paste) I had them all set to Match Destination Formatting. Now I've changed them to the Defaults ('Keep Source Formatting' for all except Pasting between emails when style definitions conflict: Use Destination Styles) and the problem appears to have gone away!" |

Have tried rich text, still the same.
The settings that you suggested in Outlook/office Paste options were already set to the ones that the post said to set them to. |

I'd logged out before I remembered this, so couldn't edit previous post. Is this a recent problem, because if it is, just do a system restore back to when it was working.

Rich, why aren't you using Live Mail instead of Outlook? I thought you must've been using Vista or XP. You need to have installed SP2 for Office 2007 to use it with W7 and another fix might be that both programs need to be open when you copy and paste. You could also try the repair feature in Office 2007.
Here is something else I've just found that you could try: "You must manually copy and paste the Web page URL from your Web browser into the body of an Outlook e-mail message.1.In your Web browser, select the URL — the Address box in Internet Explorer.2.On the Edit menu, click Copy.3.Create a new e-mail message in Outlook.4.Click the message body, and then on the Edit menu, click Paste." You could try above method with text as well. Other than that..I give up! Just copy into Word and paste from there. You need to resolve the System Restore prob as well. I have solved lots of probs with Restore and I'd be lost without it. Check Reliability Monitor and your event logs to see the error condition and then Google the error. |
