Buying Digital Copies Of Games You Already Own

Does anyone else buy digital copies of games they already own, I'm pretty limited in the numbers of times i have done it

i mostly buy PS1 Classics such as FF7,8,9 and the crash bandicoots, originally so i could play them on PSP and now (well slighty in the future) on Vita

I've also bought a couple of my favourite PSP that i still own on the Vita, the warriors and FFIV Complete Collection and i'd jump at the chance to get Crisis Core on the Vita despite the fact my PSP save file is well into the 150th hour of gameplay

I don't, but I would buy digital versions of Lumines 1 & 2 to play on the Vita. Unfortunately they will never get a digital release.

Well I got the CB's free but i'm going to buy NFS MW even though I still have the disk.

Only because I upgraded to the slim... but I still have the save from the disk copy so I can start from where I left off which is cool

I'm hoping for a sale with that game though.

I've got Crash Bandicoot 1 and C&C Red Alert on PSN and disc, that's all though.

I would like it if games came with a code that gave you the PSN version for free like how valve games work on the PC.

If they did that everyone would buy it, get the PSN code then take it back to the shop!

As someone who owns Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City on PS3, yet also got the digital version via Onlive and has just bought them again for PC via Steam's Summer Sale. Yeah I sometimes but digital versions of games I already own.

In a bit of an update on games i've done this with

I now have digital copies of every resident evil, except the fifth
I got them through a mixture of them being free on PS Plus and buying the HD collections, despite me already owning them (Resi 1,2,3 on PS1, Resi code veronica x and 4 on PS2 and the two chronicle games on Wii)

Most shops don't except returns of games with codes in them as you could do this with many games now. For example, you could buy Mass Effect 2 on PSN and buy the game and enter the code to get every expansion then try and take the game back, they wouldn't accept it though.

What if you want a PS2 game but you don't have a PS2 anymore and your PS3 can't play them.

Its alot easier, space saving and cheaper to buy the digital version.

This.

It's a waste of time if you intend on playing it in the same format.

I don't get why anyone would want to do it.

That is a slightly different scenario though in fairness. That you can understand. If by having the disk copy you are prevented from playing it.

..and for PS1 games people may still have, the download version allows the game to be transferred to PSP/Vita, something the disc can't do. So there is a good reason to be a version of a game you actually own.
