Your link does not provide the factory source code for the Galaxy Nexus. It provides the source code for the AOSP release of Android 4.x. |

![]() When I rebuild my Galaxy Nexus with the Android source available on the site, I get ICS 4.0.4. I dont get Googles special sauce but it is proprietary so you wouldnt expect me to.

Google have never specified that all versions of the Galaxy Nexus run closed source Android...it's clear someone is on a crusade to try and make it look as if Google are just like Apple.
The HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus does not run a closed build of Android. The LTE version was developed in co-operation with Verizon and includes extra code to optimise LTE hardware just as the HSPA+ version includes it's own software enhancements. It has nothing to do with Android being close source, it is specific tweaks that Google is protecting, as the LTE and HSPA+ versions run different builds. The HSPA+ is like every other Nexus device before it. Google have never explicitly said that ALL versions of the GN are running closed builds of Android, and that is a misinterpretation. The Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus (HSPA+) both run build JRN84D of Jelly Bean, so I highly doubt that Google is cooking separate secret builds of Android for the Galaxy Nexus....they were most likely protecting specific software enhancements for the device and nothing else. |

An in depth review.
It is long so best ignore the initial space filling 'babble paragraphs' and read from the 'Body' header. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/...tic-200-tablet Some of the concerns are rather strange such mentioning that a few 3rd party applications still lag'. Obviously a badly written app is a badly written app. And obviously promoting separate phone and tablet apps is wrong. They are surely badly written, immature or just targeted for commercial reasons. And from a technical viewpoint lengthily judging the camera using Skype video chat whilst ignoring actual video recording is a tad peculiar. |

Yep I reckon there will be loads of cheap covers. That's nearly a quarter of the tablet price I notice!

It was still a half decent review, it just left me wondering a bit about the actual camera. Obviously with Skype, low resolution often works better. |
