Your Fantasy Doctor Who Series

If you could pick 13 episodes from new or old Doctor Who that would make up your perfect series what would they be? Forget that many episodes carry a story arc, pick purely the episodes you love the most. New series two-parters will count as one episode, as will the classic Who serials.

I'm going to split mine into new series and old series, but by all means combine old and new into one series.

New Series

1. Dalek
2. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances
3. Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways
4. School Reunion
5. The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit
6. Human Nature/The Family of Blood
7. Utopia
8. The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky
9. Midnight
10.The Eleventh Hour
11. The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone
12. The Doctor's Wife
13. The Wedding of River Song

Old Series

1. The War Machines
2. War Games
3. Spearhead from Space
4. The Sea Devils
5. Genesis of The Daleks
6. Terror of the Zygons
7. City of Death
8. Kinda
9. Earthshock
10. The Caves of Andronzani
11. Revelation of the Daleks
12. The Curse of Fenric
13. Survival

I'm not sure exactly what I'd have in what order for the classic Series and the RTD era. However if we were just looking at series 5+6, I've always liked the idea of having all River Sing's adventures in order, from HER POV, maybe in a boxset or something, like the River Song Timeline video narrated by Alex Kingston on the last Confidential. Bearing that in mind:

1)certain scenes from a good man goes to war & The impossible astronaut/day if the Moon, or maybe just Impossible astronaut/day of the moon as realistically she wouldnt remember being a baby
2)Let's Kill Hitler
3)End of Closing Time
4) Wedding of River Song
5)A Good ManGoes To War
6)The Impossible Astronaut
7)Day of the Moon
8)The Pandorica Opens
9)The Big Bang
10)Time and Angels
11)Flesh and Stone
12)Silence in the Library
13)Forest of the Dead

And what do you know, that's actually 13 episodes. There's also anything we might have in series 7 obviously, we'll leave the christmas special. I actually really like that!

So basically you're saying 'what are the 13 best stories'? See how much more succinctly I put it for you?

Classic (my interpretation of this: i'm the scheduler of one of those crappy digital channels and i'm in charge of selecting the stories for a series of repeats; so i want to cover all eras, and then I can select an additional story from the 'best' Doctors)

An unearthly Child
The Romans
The Mind Robber
The War Games (a bit long really isn't it? But hey, it's not real)
The Silurians
Carnival of Monsters
Pyramids of Mars
The Talons of Weng Chiang
City of Death
Caves of Androzani
Vengeance on Varos
Ghost Light
TV Movie

New series (A 'best of' season of repeats):

Empty Child
Bad Wolf
The Girl in the Fireplace
Love and Monsters
Blink
Human Nature
Silence in the Library
Midnight
The Eleventh Hour
Amy's Choice
A Christmas Carol
The Doctor's Wife
The God Complex

(2 from each series plus the 'best' special)

For a while now I've been looking at the whole River story something like this.

Start with Craig's story which shows us the Doctor's impact on a different family and introduces the older version of the 11th Doctor ...

The Lodger / Closing Time

...then follow the older Doctor to Lake Silencio, from there following the story of the pregnant Amy and young Melody (also including the additional "Madame-Kovarian-at-the-window" scenes from S6a)...

The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon
The Rebel Flesh / The Almost People
A Good Man Goes To War / "TIA/DOTM"
(Melody's scenes)

...then following the Doctor from there, we finally meet Alex Kingston's River Song and pick up her timeline...

1. Let's Kill Hitler
2. ..end of "Closing Time" / The Wedding of River Song
3. "Night And The Doctor"
shorts
4. Ep 7.5
5. A Good Man Goes To War
6/7. The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon
8/9. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang
10/11. The Time Of Angels / Flesh and Stone
/ ..end of "TWORS"
12/13. Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead
