Just switched on to here the current presenter ask why it takes 40 minutes to put the centre court roof on...
It doesn't! That takes about 15-20 minutes with the rest of the time made of getting the court ready to met the conditions required.. |

O.K. Re. female presenters - I now have a more balanced appraisal of the situation. Thanks for the posts.
I used to love Anna Raeburn (more about her giving help really, her no-nonsense approach) and I still like Jenni Barnett (who has transferred to Radio London on Sunday mornings)...but then I'm a leftie!! |

Although on LBC for a short time, I liked Angie Greaves. I also vaguely remember enjoying a weekend show with Wendy Lloyd. |

I tried, honestly I tried, I listened to the start of AD's stint but gave up after his total ignorance of the subject that he was discussing became more and more laughable. H knows diddlysquat about tennis, I turned to 5 Live and listened to a far more intelligent discussion with a presenter who didn't make himself look like a twerp. Good morning all.

Poor old Jonny Marray, a british winner in the Wimbledon doubles for the first time in 76 years but hasn't really had much coverage for his victory because people rather concentrate on Murray's defeat.

I was delighted to hear Anthony D again in his regular slot last night. He was absolutely right about Andy Murray. All of todays newspapers have pictures of him on the front pages even though he LOST the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championship. No photographs of the winner anywhere! Fascinating expose of the security company paid two hundred millions to patrol the Olympics parks. H managed to open a can of worms there too. Even Duncan B congratulated him on a fascinating insight. The holiday must have done the boy good
Morning all!

Having zero sporting knowledge is a well-known part of Anthony's schtick, just as being a nasty piece of work is part of Steve's. You clearly don't like H so I can only imagine you listen with the intent on giving yourself a little more ammo with which to criticise him here on the thread. Were that the case for me I would tune in to that 'more intelligent discussion' from the offset. Makes sense, doesn't it? |

I couldn't believe the amount of time Nick gave to Andy Murray's tears on Centre Court. He played the clip over and over.
So Murray lost, then he cried, but it's Monday now so let's just move on with today's news. |

![]() ETA: The reason I had the misfortune of hearing him is because I wondered if my prayers had been answered and that he was stuck in an airport somewhere and the Yummy One would be on air for just one extra night after his ten night run. |

I really used to enjoy Wendy Lloyd on a Saturday. Her show was great.
I liked Alison Bell, Caroline Feraday, Daisy Sampson and even a little bit of Jenny Eclair when she had Lizzie Roper in. I've not heard Jacqui Smith, but I reckon she'd be good too. I tried Julia HB but she wasn't my cup of tea. The worst female presenters on LBC have been Steve Allen and Cristo Foufas. |

Marray got coverage on Sunday morning but I guess everyone within tennis was concentrating on the main event by then. |

Too much hype and speculation before and too much afterwards but it fills air time... Must admit I didn't watch or listen and I was not surprised at the result... |

I quite like Petrie. I don't listen to her much (due to her timeslot) but she sounds pleasant enough.
I listened to Emma yesterday? And well let's say that the way she phrases things? Is not for me. Not her fault, just one of those things. I have no idea what her views are? On anything as her voice just irritated me. ![]() Never listened to Ferrari, again due to timeslot. The clips I hear are not that enticing, he seems to be one of those "I'm alright Jack" Tories and is far too chummy with BoJo. Oh I tell a lie, I did catch a little of the Q&A with BoJo and the absolute tosh he was allowed to spout in response to the questions was pretty shocking. It sounds very plausible and convincing but the things he claims are simply untrue. I guess that's what politics is about these days: no journalistic checking or balancing, just repeated softball underarm lobs and some matey chuckles. Abbott has really grown on me lately. It's been a while since I listened to the radio in general and maybe it's me who's changed but I now "get" Nick. Barkes has been consistently interesting so it's no wonder he's good here. He seems to be able to take the prescribed news topics and make them contentious without being offensive. Yet!! I hadn't heard him since the Tommy Boyd thing in the internet. And I'm even liking a bit of the old Ian Collins. Maybe it's nostalgia for the old familiar voices. One day I will call in and tell him I've never eaten any of the "Colonel's finest" in my life, that will blow his mind. Yep, LBC has definitely improved since last I listened. I guess that's natural since TS went all sport and the talk presenters were casting their nets into the hertzien waters. |

Henk came on the air and announced it was his office party that day, at which point Jane said words to the effect that she really didn't care and cut him off. Sorry it's not verbatim but that's the gist. After he'd gone she said she always preferred Charlie Gibson
