EE - Why did they focus so much of Peggy's exit on Stacey?
I know this was a long time ago now, but I was watching the Vic fire episode recently and it got me wondering why they had Stacey confessing to Archie's murder to Peggy. It was obvious Peggy wasn't gonna phone the old bill, so why did they do this? It added nothing to her exit, and such an iconic character should've had her last week of episodes focused around people she's interacted with the most, whereas she barely had any scenes with Stacey

I guess they wanted to give Peggy a revelation scene and find out who killed him before she left. As she wasn't around for the whole revelation at Christmas.
Especially, as originally she herself was going to be the killer. |

Archie was one of Peggy's biggest stories so it was giving that whole era closure. We got closure of her relationship with Sam and Phil, and then Ronnie and Roxy, and even the way she has treated Billy and also closure for her love of the Vic.

Don't forget Peggy had history with Stacey, over the Chrissie/Zoe/Sam thing, where Stacey gave Chrissie an aliby to keep Zoe out of prison, and therefore, keeping Sam in prison. Its not like Peggy had never shared a scene with Stacey as the OP suggests...
