There is a HUGE learning curve with BF over COD though. The game is massive in not only map size, but things to learn in it.

I'm not sure its a Syphon filter (I've never played that), its still a FPS when it boils down to it.

I hated MW3 but on Black Ops, I preferred HC S&D as that was more stealthy I felt.
Hmm cheers for the info.

Not sure my connection could handle a big map, I get lag when too much happens on MW3.

But the game is cheap 2nd hand so I might give it a try.

BF3 is run on dedicated servers so virtually lag free. There's DLC, "Close Quarters" which feels very much like MW3. Just remember if you buy it preowned, you'll need an online pass, so it's worth searching for the best price for a new copy

Does that apply to the PSN or XBox?

Not sure I'll bother if you need to pay to play online.

You will get even more lag on BF3 if your using a 3G dongle.. MW3 has aggressive lag compensation for connection like yours and makes it playable.

BF3 on the other hand has dedicated servers so the better your connection the better your experience.... i.e lower ping.

Think I'll have to stick with MW3 and put up with 2 bars.

I know a lot of you here play Domination - they've added it to the Face Off playlists for this weekend, it is pretty decent on 3v3 but quite shit 2v2 as there is a high percentage chance you'll get someone who wants to play TDM on your team and due to the tightness of the maps its impossible to cap solo.

Blast Shield a must, too.

I haven't got BF3 yet, god knows when i will tbh, but i've started playing Drop Zone on MW3. I'm regularly getting 30 - 40 kills per game on there. Quite enjoying it.

Who said the spawns aren't bad?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTsa7-jdC4E

Got grenaded - fair enough. Spawn, get knifed by the grenade thrower. Spawn, IMS below my feet. Spawn, get almost instantly killed and flashed.

Later on, get killed in one bullet by a P90, spawn behind my falling dead body and in the eye line of someone else. Spawn again and another IMS is in front of me.

Then finally I get lucky and spawn in eye line of someone but manage to kill them.

Still, at least we won the game.

So... i got BF3. My very first death was interesting, i was shot and then i as soon i spawned someone else shot me instantly. Cod style.

There's no escaping the madness.

Was it a spawn trapper or just someone running past?

Strange. On BF before you spawn you can see and cycle all the areas you want to spawn to. ie. Anyone of your squad, if they are alive and not in water or a plane. You can also spawn in any area your team hold in conquest and you can spawn at your base.

I'm guessing you might be playing TDM though ?? which is generally a random spawn point ???

I'd recommend you stick to "conquest" mode til you get used to it. I still find TDM the most frustrating mode as its pretty meaningless imo. "Rush" is hard cause there are 2 focus points and so you will meet the enemy constantly at those and until you get used to it, will probably die.

Conquest is all about capturing zones; like domination, so you can easily climb the leader boards and so rank up without even meeting the enemy. Once you get used to that you will start to pick up the odd kill here n there hopefully. Play it a bit more stealthily that you would COD though.

there are a few maps whereby if you end up on a poor side you can get base raped. Metro and Grand bazaar to name a couple can be like that. I detest Metro, so avoid it. Caspian, Kharg island, operation firestorm are probably 3 of the better ones.

God I thought they nerfed the striker. No chance, I'm getting out gunned at medium range and I'm using the mp7. Shockingly bad

I'm really getting into it. I'm spending all night playing the game. I haven't done that with Cod since MW2.

It's a nice change, and a MUCH better game overall than MW3. I'll be picking up the Close Quarter maps soon.

How are my Cod brethren doing? I just watched a youtube clip of Terminal and saw nothing but people camping and the commentator being robbed of kills. I got mad just watching him playing.

be warned that the close Quarters maps make it more like COD, as its infantry based, and designed to be fast paced.

LOL. Be aware that unlike conquest, its got a new game mode called conquest domination. You cap flags a lot quicker but have to be a lot closer to them, rather than just in the area. With that in mind, you'll get C4'd a lot. quite often worth chucking in a grenade before you leap in. I prefer the vehicle maps myself, but nice now and then to mix it up a bit.

BF camping is far worse. I think it's funny when people mention the camping in COD then talk about BF.

It is the reason I quit playing it (BF).

camping is more noticeable in COD due to the small maps, but yeah it does happen in BF. Plenty dont play the objective and pitch tent in the hills, etc with their sniper rifle.

I remember having such a fun time playing Terminal back on MW2, was probably my favourite map. Unfortunately my memories of it will be tarnished by MW3.

Its the same map, all the spawn spots and high traffic areas are the same, but the community f**king blows. Probably had 7-10 matches on it in Ground War, every match was either a Quick Scoping Frustration or Campfest (or both) Some guy went 77 to 5 on Domination, by camping in the rear of the plane, almost impossible to get him, couldn't 'nade him out. (His team still lost)

Just proves the popular theory that the Community gets worse with every COD. I remember Terminal being a quick paced map.

.
Can't you shoot through the fuselage to get people at the back of the plane?

Not sure if you need impact, but that's how I was shot a few times on MW2 in that position (once the fuel barrels have been blow up).

Spawns seem to be getting worse on this game. Earlier on terminal 3 of us spawned in the same spot, not to mention getting spawn killed 3 times in a row by some idiot quickscoper camped at the top of the escalator.

Haven't played it yet. As much as I loved the map in MW2, I just can't be @r$ed to load up MW3.

However, someone sitting in the back of the plane - wasn't that a regular tactic on the MW2 version? Made worse by OMA Pro, so they just sat at the back lobbing infinite noob tubes down the middle .
