the invaders!..60s scifi series

fantastic stuff.loved it when the aliens died and they turned red and disapeared leaving a scorch mark on the floor.didnt they have a dodgy finger or something, thats how they could be found out??

just wondering if a more modern version could be made or a film that would stay true to the original!.

There was a passable remake/sequel mini-series in the 90s, that turns up every couple of weeks on the Horror channel.

I used to love watching this on Sunday mornings. I think it was Channel 4, or maybe Five, but they used to show The Invaders and Land of the Giants on Sunday mornings. T'was great fun!

I think The Invaders was shown on BBC2 at round about 1pm on Sundays

C4 showed Lost In Space, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea and Land Of The Giants in the same slot in the late 80s/early 90s.

I wouldn't mind seeing The Invaders again. It seems the sort of show that the Horror Channel might be interested in getting the rights to.

Difficult to believe now, but it was a prime time show on its first appearance on UK tv, in glorious black and white.

"How does a nightmare begin . . . .?"

I remember when Channel 4 showed it, great series and if I remember correctly one episode featured an up and coming actor by the name of Gene Hackman.

I grew up in the early 90's and don't remember this series. I did watch Land of the Giants and Voyage to the bottom of the Sea fondly, and have started to collect them on DVD.

The problem with the Invaders was that there was so little evidence - the aliens would just burn up when they died.

So Vincent would be back to square one.

Though they did give him some mates in the second series.

Now this is a show I'd totally forgotten about, really enjoyed watching this as a kid. I'll have to seek it out now. Sort of a shame that it didn't have an ending.

Thats right, I don't believe Ch4 even existed then!

I remember watching this (...a deserted diner...) in the late 60's/early 70's when I was a teenager. We bought the DVD set a couple of years ago and enjoyed it very much, but it runs out of ideas in the second series and doesn't really end properly.
The 90's remake had a different feel. In fact it had little in common with the original.

The Invaders: alien beings from a dying planet. Their destination: the Earth. Their purpose: to make it *their* world. David Vincent has seen them. For him, it began one lost night on a lonely country road, looking for a shortcut that he never found. It began with a closed deserted diner, and a man too long without sleep to continue his journey. It began with the landing of a craft from another galaxy. Now, David Vincent knows that the Invaders are here, that they have taken human form. Somehow, he must convince a disbelieving world, that the nightmare has already begun...

I loved this when I was a kid. It'd be great to see it again.

I was racking my brain to try and remember this as I'm sure I would have watched it in black and white back in the 60s..........but no memory at all until I read the phrase ' a deserted diner'.............

That was the memory hook !..............

That kind of defeated the object of the series

Roy Thinnes had a cameo as an elderly David Vincent in the remake
