Could one put an ebook on a wishlist and somebody else buy it for them? That would be a way, but not really a surprise.
ETA: I am registered at amazon.com and there I have an option next to a book "Give as a gift". Then I have to log on and specify to which Amazon account/email address I want to send it. |

Yes they do. You can transfer your account seamlessly between countries depending on your whim as long as you have a valid local billing address. Bit of a stretch for a gift though.

DRM needs to die. I can (and have) ordered books from Amazon USA, despite only having a UK billing address.
Digital books shouldn't be treated any differently. |
