SG1 is what made me realize that physical media is dead. I have the big cube boxset with all 10 seasons... but if I want to watch an episode, it's just so much more convenient to stream it from Netflix (who also have all 10 seasons.. at least the US version does).

I love all three of the Stargate franchise.
SG1: The Goa'uld were a great enemy, so I always thought they should have ended it with Series 8, especially with Richard Dean Anderson leaving. I didn't realise how much he made that show until he left, although I do like Cameron. Some of the animation in the earlier series isn't brilliant (but that's to be expected), and this show definitely peaked somewhere in the middle of it's ten-year run. SGA: Again, the Wraith were a brilliant enemy but were 'watered down' a bit (quite like the Goa'uld - after being practically impossible to kill, a couple of shots could suddenly do it). The characters also work well together, aside from Teyla who was way too intense and was a shoddy rip-off of Teal'c. I was gutted when Carson and Elizabeth left - Samantha Carter just didn't work as a leader for me. Like SG1 with O'Neill, it was very dependant on the Sheppard/McKay characters and dynamic, but I don't have a problem with that because they're probably my two favourite characters in the franchise! SGU: Completely different to the other two and I suppose that's why it didn't gel with the die-hard Stargate fans. I appreciated the different direction though and the fact the characters weren't perfect - they did screw up and made the wrong decisions. Universe wasn't quite so black and white as SG1 and SGA, which made it interesting. (I'd really like to see the SGA and SGU storylines finished off one day, but I don't hold out much hope). |

Personally I like the very early episodes, Tin Man is on just now on Sky its a great one, and has added bonus of the team in tight jumpsuits

I'm just at the end of S1 now. I haven't really seen that much of the early seasons so I'm looking forward to watching the show from beginning to end all the way though. Although there are a few dodgy episodes in season 1, not just Emancipation but I'm not really keen on Cold Lazarus, Brief Candle or Fire and Water. It definitely improved as the season headed towards the end.

I like Stargate, watched it from beginning to end for over a decade. I'm still annoyed that it as a 'franchise' came to such an unsatisfying and sudden end, more for the loss of Atlantis than SG:U though.
