Can you not just uninstall it?

You might find an additional entry under the Services tab of msconfig. Tick the option to hide MS services and it will be easier to spot. IIRC, it has a random looking name, starting with 'M'.

Unless you specifically need the BT software, it's best to not install any of it.

Someone else had the same problem and a possible solution is here
http://community.bt.com/t5/Other-BB-...p/46973/page/2

You would be given an option, probably, of not installing this piece of software.
Using the CD to get connected is *not* necessary
http://community.bt.com/t5/Other-BB-...CD/td-p/549781
Which states: "you do not need to use the BT cd and in fact the forum recommendation is not to instal the BT cd but use it for a coaster/bird scarer/frisbee or something similar"
