Cher Lloyd US iTunes position

Cher is currently at number 38 on the iTunes chart in the US and is continuously climbing. Well Done Cher!

Think she's now up to 154 out of 185 US top 40 mainstream stations now playing her, audience figures have really bumped up over the past three to four days and reaction seems really quite positive.

Not quite sure what to make of it all other than so far so good. Odd considering WUB was virtually snubbed by radio here in the UK. There's a good chance that sales of this in the US will overtake the UK total of about 115k (I think) within a couple of weeks.

She's beginning to get small crowds at radio stations as she turns up now (she must've done a few dozen interviews and acoustic sets across the whole of the eastern, mid west, and south of the country over the past three weeks or so).

And she's smiling. God knows how you keep doing that with all the meets and greets but she's putting the hours in at the coal face.

Fingers crossed.

As a US Cher Brat, I am incredibly proud! My other brats and I here have really stepped up and helped Cher here a ton by requesting "Want U Back" and showing up en masse to her radio appearances. Yay for Cher!

Yes she's no 38 on iTunes but there are about 185 (or might be 187 can't remember) radio stations in the US that define themselves as " top 40 mainstream" or words to that effect. She's now being played by 154 of them. Pretty good indeed from what I can gather from my reading up a tad on this. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

To my uneducated eye, it looks good just now. Although the process of becoming a "hit" is still far from complete. Spins, impressions, adds all going in the right direction. Z100 added a few weeks ago and that's a huge boost - especially as they gradually seem to be playing her in daytime. My understanding is that once her Top 40 base is built she'll look to Rhythmic(?) for more and that (combined with higher AI's from Top 40) is what makes a hit. Then throw in additional promotion (she'll be on America's Got Talent in a few weeks, I suspect). She could definitely make this work.

There is this chart linked to on some Idol message board that shows the progress of X Factor and Idol acts on US radio for various formats.
Click on the 'T 40 Spins Chart' and 'T 40 AI Chart' tabs for WUB.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...ENNYmNxVE4wakE

For those who don't know US radio, AI stands for Audience Impressions (usually called Impacts here), and is a measure a how many ears are reached with each radio spin. It varies according to the station size and the time of the day.

It shows that WUB started off in a similar way as Whataya Want From me, a song by Adam Lambert that reached top 13 on the format, and was a decent hit, but is now climbing even faster. Considering that he was fresh from idol and that she is a newcomer in America, this is pretty good.

However, don't jump the gun, it is still early days, and some songs just stop progressing even after a good start, so it is not a guarantee that it will be a hit. Just so far, so good...

Great to see Princess Cher doing so deservedly well in USA. Hopefully she's getting good promo and all that.
