I believe Woodhall is to work on the Olympic boxing tournament for either 5 Live or BBC TV.

I am perhaps out of step with the rest of the sports radio listening public on this one, but I really cannot take to Mike Costello. I find his style very strained sounding, panicky and difficult to listen to. Ron McIntosh has commentated on boxing for Radio 5 Live before and sounded pretty good from what I remember, so while I would have preferred a talkSPORT guy with a history of covering fights like Graham Beecroft and Dom McGuinness to be commentating on the fight, I'm sure Ron will do a decent job.
Thanks for all that info Difference.

Reading the reviews on Irani's book 'No Boundaries' it's clear most people found the book an appalling read so shame shame shame on Derek Thompson who once said live on air it was the best sports book he'd ever read.
I see it was mentioned Derek is currently suffering from cancer I'm sure everyone hopes he can soon beat this horrid disease, saying stupid things about Irani's book is one thing but I'd never wish illness on anyone.

It seems complaint and ridicule of Irani is everywhere you look, there's absolutely no chance that he doesn't see it simply because it's plastered too far and wide and unless he never opens Google he couldn't fail to miss it. But we all know he will open Google don't we!, he'll open it because that's exactly the type of guy he is, he hates criticism and must be so frustrated that he just can't hit straight back hard but people in the media like him just have to remain quiet, they simply can't win whatever they do and I guess that's the price they have to pay for making a name for themselves good or bad.

Enjoyed reading the reviews again on the book, a reight laff.

If I owned a top golf course I wouldn't want 20 stones Alan Brazil trampling down my perfect greens like an elephant anyway it can't be doing them any good surely.

By the way your a great example of an ex sports star Alan, oh and "great show boys".

EDIT: 23.36
didn't want to leave Ronnie out I know he gets mardy when he is so here's a nice of one him.

"This is by some margin the worst book I've ever read" and "Wished I'd noticed these reviews before I purchased this truly awful book" or "God what a load of self pitying trash",...........Great reviews what more can you say.

This morning's guest on the 7.06 journo spot on talking to Alan Brazil about Andre Villas-Boas and Chelsea "remember Chelsea went on to win the Champions League and FA Cup last season without AVB, they did it without him, they did it to show him," ... Irani, "maybe they did it in despite of him?" do you think Ronnie follows what is going on or is he too busy at this time searching Google for things to ask Henk Potts later and not concentrating?.

Ronnie's bought himself a new big boys toy then according to what Brazil dropped out on this mornings breakfast show ... the latest Range Rover, prices vary depending on the model from £57,000 to £71,000, oh well he's got to spend all that overpaid salary on something and it's better than pi$$ing it up the wall in bars and clubs or gambling it away like his washed up partner I guess.

I've owned a Rover 4x4 myself and can vouch they are a great motor, here's a pic of the one I had the car before my present one.

You know, I thought Paul Hawksbee was better than that, the man was dead against that fight a week or so ago, but its not stopping him reading out the adverts for the talksport com and boxnation sub.

Surely if your that dead against something, you wont advertise it even when asked to by anybody.

Bunch of sellouts!

They'll all be sat at home watching it Saturday night, you can bet ya money on it.

Bit simplistic that. If you get paid by a station, you're going to read what you're told to.

And, let's be honest, it's plugging coverage of a boxing match, hardly some major political issue.

I know Ronnie is aware of some of the criticism as I have seen him reply to people on twitter who has asked him what he thinks of it.

You say Irani hates criticism, are there some stories regarding this? I don't recall Ronnie kicking off against anyone, but maybe I missed it.

Btw I see talksport have launched the talksport.com web-site (only available outside the uk) for people to register to listen to premier league commentary from every game.

Yes, and thats exactly one of the things thats wrong with the world. Do what your told to and shut up, because your being paid Mr Hawksbee.

Fact of the matter is, yes, it is only a boxing match, I agree, but morally (if Hawksbee used the morals he obviously has, he's not stupid.), he'd have turned around and said,

"I'm not promoting a fight I don't agree with and have slated repeatedly on this station before you signed the dotted line, I will look like a tw@"

But no, "do what your told and shut up, read what we tell you to read Hawksbee, or we'll shift you out and promote the Moose!" DUM DUM DUMMMMM

Hawksbee is the one that comes across as a bit of a hypocrite mate and not the station.

I said it before, I'll say it again.

Money talks.....and talksport, TALKsh*t.

I'm basing my comments on Irani disliking criticism after hearing him reacting nastily to people whenever they have criticised him on the breakfast show (on the ultra rare occasions callers like this have managed to hoodwink the studio guy on the phones pretending they wanted to talk about something completely different in order to get on to have a go against Irani), I don't know the guy personally nor would I want to.

Hawksbee has a contract and bills to pay. Go figure.
We all know how craven the TS management are. They'd hire Jordan if there appeared to be some money in it.

How much will Talksport do on the Olympics I wonder (in terms of actual news rather than trying to make jokes out of it as Cundy just tried to do)?

Next weekend there is Test Match cricket,F1,Tour De France...I am sure the main talk on the station will be the Pre-season friendles though!

That makes everything all right then, ta.

As it happens, I praised talksport from 8 til 10 last night, it was a good listen and it was something other than football for a change. It was boxing with Ronald Mcintosh, Steve Lillis and Danny Kelly presenting.

Joe Calzaghe on MSL is gonna be fantastic.
