Actors that show us that growing old is not something important
After watching the BBC programmes recently it has made me think who in showbiz are fab for their age and still working harder than ever.
June Brown- 85 Angela Lansbury- 86 Dick Van Dyke- 86 Cloris Leechman- 86 Betty White- 90 Carl Reiner- 90 Doris Roberts- 82 Bruce Forsyth- 83 Des O Connor- 80 William Roach- 80 Eileen Derbyshire- 81 Probably left out loads more |

Is Patricia Routledge still actively performing? She'd be 83. I saw her in a play 6 years ago, when she would have been 77, and during the performance she was moving furniture about as part of the story, as well as remembering her lines for a couple of hours, almost word perfect. I was very impressed.

Nobody in their 70's is old nowadays, so it should start at 80 and no earlier in my opinion.

Annette Crosbie (One Foot in the Grave) is well into her seventies, I think. Love her to bits.
Some real legends above. Elaine Stritch, I think, is about 87, still working. What about Sean Connery and Roger Moore? Do they still work? One or two of the Emmerdale cast must be hitting their eighties as well. Love threads like this that flag up the merits of the older entertainer....so much to learn from them. |

I'm sure Sir Anthony Hopkins has got a few bob in the bank. The truth of it is a lot of them enjoy acting and don't want to give it up. There are plenty of parts for older male actors but not so many for females.
