Is there a way to have the sd card as the default storage?

In looking anything I download, take photos, save pics via what's app, etc to store on sd card.

Reason being that the pics etc would be lost in the event if anything happens to phone and needs fixed.

p.s I personally use a x10 and its a gift

As far as I know there is no way to do this. Although you can change the individual settings in each app (camera, browser, etc) to save to SDCARD

You can set up a dropbox account and have all your photos auto uploaded to the cloud for backup - the s3 comes with masses of free space on dropbox. you can limit the uploading to only when there is a wifi connection if you are worried about the amount of data that would involve.

no need to worry then about losing them and if you install dropbox on a pc as well they will sync there as well

Don't forget to mention that the massive dropbox storage runs out in 12 months, so you will loose alot if you go over the free limit.

If you start the camera and go into settings the option to save to phone or memory card is there. Setting it up to upload to dropbox will ensure you have a copy of photos though and you get two years storage with dropbox. As for apps you can save some to Sd card but they will be saved on your googlemail account anyway so there's not much point. If you changed phone log into the account and they will either start downloading or be in your 'my apps' section on googleplay.

I'm not bothered about the apps part.they can be downloaded again. But photos are memories so prefer to have sd card backup incase

It's two years - and if you sync it to a PC you lose absolutely nothing even if you cancel your drop box account

Sorry I meant 24 months lol I don't really use dropbox much anyway, only when creating themes or roms to upload

Yes, but with large photos the original image is not saved. Google allow a maximum dimension of 2048 pixels on the longest edge for photos uploaded to Google+. With a typical 4:3 photo the maximum allowed size is 2048x1536, which is 3.1 megapixels. Larger images are automatically resized down to these limits.

Also, if Google decided to close your Google+ account for any reason you may not be able to retrieve your photos. (The same goes for any free online service.) Having the original images backed up to a computer is always a wise precaution.

Google offer 1 GB of free space on Picasa which can be used to store larger images (and videos) if needed, but again, you should avoid a situation where the online copy is the only copy.
