Home Hub 3 Replacement

Seriously had enough of the home hub 3 already after about 4 weeks on being a Bt infinity 2 user.

The wireless is awful and slow, the N specification is supposed to be 300mbps (as an average) and when i check through the web interface myne is 130mpbs, have black spots in the apartment as well for no reason.

Can someone recomended me a good replacement to use please ?

I really like Netgear modems as i can use open dns servers with them, but i have no idea which ones are compatible with the White VDSL modem.

Thanks in advance.

You need to manually set the router to give you 300Mbit via wireless but the channels are that congested it will only drop back to 20MHz mode (as will all routers)

After trying routers from D-link, Belkin and Netgear, none of which gave decent wireless coverage in my thick walled stone house, I settled on the Billion BiPac 7800N - it wasn't cheap but it gives the best wireless coverage I've had.

I'm using it in EWAN mode connected to a BT Infinity FTTC modem.

Others have repaced the HH3 AND the BTI modem with Draytek Vigors.

I'm on my 3rd homehub and all 3 have had the ethernet ports failing requiring a reset everyday to go back to normal speeds rather than half a meg whenever I come home from work etc. Also the wireless speeds are around 20meg rather than the 70 I should be getting. Have a feeling HH3 doesn't handle wireless congestion very well.

I'm also considering getting a replacement. Doubt the modem is at fault though.

You would need one that supports PPPoA and PPPoE

I got my dads Linksys router (The newer one i dunno what model) by using my dads @btinternet.com username and password
