It's honestly news to me about actors faking their kissing scenes. Brand New Information! I always assumed it was part and parcel of the job.

I wouldn't have thought it was the norm...maybe I'm just really unobservant but most of the time the kissing looks real to me

Like lots of things in acting, some kisses would be faked, and some times the lips actually touch.

On a filmed thing like 'Dynasty' (single camera, shot like a feature film) it is easier to fake as the actor knows exactly where the camera is, what lens is on the camera, what angle they are going for.

In a rushed soap shot straight on video it would he harder to fake a kiss, and today's actors might not know the techniques. With these soaps shot multi camera it is not as easy to predict which camera is taking the shot, what the camera angle is.

Rock Hudson knew how to do fake kisses as he spent decades in old Hollywood films with leading ladies like Doris Day so became an expert at the technique. For it to work the actor has to understand the camera angles, etc. An actor's deflected punch follows the same principle.
