Rihanna will be so high because in the May 11 - May 12 period she'll have had the last of Loud's sales, Talk This Talk's and it's singles sales; and more importantly the Loud tour (which grossed $90m ww) all to make money from. Plus her endorsements.

What money would she get from her singles, tho? She does not write them.

I wonder how much Gaga will make in this May to May period. The Born This Ball is humongous (it's already made $67m with the vast, vast majority still left to go) and she'll probably have a new album out aswell. I think she could well be at the top spot by quite a margin.

I love how Adele got pretty much all of her fortune through album sales. Pretty much no touring or endorsements. So little effort (after making the album) for so much reward!

May to May will include the vast majority of the 110 date tour, her new album and subsequent singles, profits from her perfume, jewellery line, ongoing endorsements and further new endeavours etc.

The tour will probably end up grossing $300-350 million, so I guess it just depends how much she takes away from that.

She'll be #1 next year with $150+ million, I'd wager.

I would imagine her hourly rate (i.e for the time she was actually working/promoting/touring) would dwarf the others on the list.

I'm waiting for the leaking of the lullaby/nursery rhymes album (gotta be happening, it was in The Sun).

Taylor Swift not only toured in the US, she endorses pretty much everything. Her face is on everything. Perfume, jeans, Jewelry, gift cards, a kmart clothing line, makeup, games, posters, calendars, school supplies, personal care stuff, sony comcast, and 100s of more companies and products.
I point out her average music skills on occasion here on DS, but she is a freaking awesome business woman. What's she got to lose? Her musical integrity?
I'd be doing the same thing if I was her.

Haha i know those lullabys number 1's waiting to happen

And Ts is like Beyonce musically not the best but good enough but thier business skills are phenomenal and that is where it lies endorsements, advertisemnts, franchises.

It's like Britney Spears perfume line and J'lo's is one of the most productive and profitable lots of money to be had.

He would have been paid for Deathly Hallows long before May 2011 (google says he was paid for both in 2009), I don't think he has any big endorsements and he would have been paid a relatively low amount for a Women In Black (it's whole budget is less then Daniel was paid for one Deathly Hallows!).

I think the UK is pretty irrelevant to taylor and most of the superstars in the states.
She comes here to the UK sells out venues, keeps her UK fans happy and then gets out, cant blame her really. Far. far bigger places of interest to her then the UK. No point flogging a dead horse as the UK has always been backward when it comes to country music. On her next tour can just see her doing a couple of stadiums in the UK and thats it, short and sweet.

Oh, btw i am spotting Taylor Swift in UK Itunes.
http://kworb.net/popuk/

Her new album is coming out this year. So she is probably trying to get more WW with this B.O.B collab. She is very smart. Always with the right moves. Based on that solely i`d say she has a long career ahead of her.
Very long career, her talent is endless, as long as she want to continue she will have a career. Artists like Taylor dont come along very often.

Only a matter of time before you crawled in wasnt it? Once again what is your basis for saying "Uk is pretty irrelevant to most us superstars?" You say this all the time and have been proven wrong time and time again. You need some new material GL

When you think of all the money she will now get in return from royalties I suspect Adele will top next years list.

I read that Adele is performing at private gigs for $30 million a pop! amazing that Adele can earn more than Lady Gaga can on a whole tour just by performing at a handful of private parties for wealthy people!

She gaves birth in October doesn't she?

"Couple of stadiums in the UK"

In her dreams maybe The UK may stick out the odd crap like One Direction every now and then... but it doesn't have enough stupid little kiddies to fill up a stadium.

Do you really think, that someone can buy ADELE for $30 million to play for wealthy people, like Beyonce, Watch the Throne or Nelly Furtado did?
She did possibly sing at the Mumford wedding but it was surely for free.

Taylor in UK stadiums? LOL. She didn't even sell out any of the venues on her recent FOUR DATE Uk arena 'tour'. The only chance of her playing to a sold out UK stadium would be to appear at half time at Old Trafford (although i'm sure the bars/pie stands would do an even better trade than normal then .)

Agreed, she could sell out a whole stadium tour in the US but couldn't here. Her team wouldn't even think of booking a stadium here. Much bigger UK based artists wouldn't even contemplate a stadium tour let alone Taylor. She would however sell out a full arena tour no problem.

Well done to Taylor for topping this list, it couldn't happen to a more deserving artist. Charities will be the most happiest!

According to the IFPI the UK slipped down to 4th place behind Germany, Japan and the US as far as music markets go

Abeit in my mind that's still not really something to write off

Germany only got that 3rd place by being a far more expensive place to buy music than the UK - and IIRC the rankings are based on actual money taken not units sold. It's not clear if an artist gets more royalties from their music being sold at higher prices than at lower prices, though.

And I just don't get the thinking behind the theory regarding Taylor not being bothered about selling in the UK - I would have thought she would be really keen to prove she's not just a US success story.

I disagree, most of the massive Country artists haven't even bothered at all with the UK market. While Taylor is much more pop than alot of her peers, her music is clearly country rooted. I think most country artists are more than happy staying in the USA because coming to the UK isn't worth the effort with our love of generic dance crap!

She brought her stage show (I would imagine at great expense) to play precisely 4 shows in the UK (plus one in Ireland). She certainly isn't ignoring the possibility of at some stage doing well here, is she?
