They should introduce a rating system for servers, got 'ragekicked' twice this weekend by our European cousins, did not break one of their endless list of rules.

The whole rules thing is ridiculous, in protest (when I have been bored) I have taken to joining No Shotgun servers and running riot with one. Half of the time you get kicked they don't ban you so I just keep rejoining and going nuts Quite good therapy actually if you have just had a bad game.

Yeah... I have been kicked quite a few times now from various different servers.... strangely when I'm at the top of the scoreboard.... hmmmm!

Are there any 'Normal' severs anymore on this game? I hate the idea of paying good, hard cash for a game that i liked as it was only to have to play by others stupid rules and risk getting kicked or playing for hours on a stupid ticket count match

Assuming you're on PS3...

there are still loads of official servers, it just takes a bit of time to find them among the rented ones.

Use the search function, and search for 'Server<a number>' or 'PRGM' or 'Dice', and then wade through the results. (They still won't all be official, check the owner before joining the server.

Take a note of the server you are joining and add it to your favourites, or just join a server that's listed in your history, once you've built a few up in the list.

Until EA give people full control over the servers, these rules are useless. With an Unreal Tournament or Counter-Strike server, a sniper only server properly configured by the admin would have a sniper rifle as the only selectable weapon. Same goes for pistol/knife only or for instagib rules.

At the moment, what's on offer (at least on PS3/360) is a joke.

I've actually been on pistol/knife only server and it was a lot of fun. Nobody pulled out the big guns as well.

Squad Rush

I had a great game on Tehran highway the other night.

I joined mid game to find our squad were defenders. However, the attacking squad were set up in at the first MCOM with a spawn beacon and all four as Snipers.

From where our squad was spawning we had no chance of getting near the MCOM to take the attackers out.

Knowing they could set the charge at any point, I'm guessing they were just using us for target practice - and these guys were very good.

In the end the round lasted 40 mins (with our squad changing constantly as people gave up) and they only set the charge once we whittled them down to 5 attackers tickets.

A great twist on the usual challenge presented for this game mode and even though I got absolutely slaughtered it was probably the most I've enjoyed BF3 multiplayer in one round.

Has anyone else seen a team play the objectives differently (without obviously cheating, stat padding etc)?

What's stat padding?

I've only just started playing this, I always manage to come to things late

I think 2 was much better in terms of gameplay than this iteration.

Unfortunately I had major problems with the server browser in BF2 and win7 so I've un-installed it.

I had been concentrating on Assault and Engineer, but have now switched to recon,

It's a lot of fun doing tasks that help the team out, such as MAV and SOFLAM and then periodically trying to snipe

My favourite recon class was in BF2142 - claymores, lambert carbine and RDX DemoPak.

I'll probably try an recreate a similar load out though unfortunately claymores and c4 are support and the carbine/smgs are global.

Just working up the headshots for the l96.

Yeah, thats one thing that I don't get about BF3, I don't think C4 works for the support class, in BF2 it made sense for the spec ops class to have them and gave them good anti vehicle capability, and even BC2 where the recon class had C4 / claymores it worked, my most fun games were sneaking about on Heavy Metal C4ing tanks.

One other thing that bugs me, the inclusion of the SKS as a sniper rifle. It makes no sense. At all.

Also, is it me or is the destruction in BF3 far less impressive than BC2? One of the things that really immersed me in BC2, after a 20 min round most of the landscape would be wasted and 95% of the buildings gone meaning you had to improvise for cover, it was very very cool...but in BF3 it is much less noticable.

There's a very obvious reason for this - we aren't fighting in the same type of open areas as in BC2. For the majority of original maps, if the destruction was on the same level, you would literally destroy the map making it unplayable.

It is however, on the same level as BC2 in the Back to Karkand expansion because they're very much landscape maps.

The destruction is still impressive where it is viable to have it. But I would rather have interesting gameplay than a destruction sandbox for a Battlefield game - which it what BF3 would turn in to if it was ramped up on every map.

For me - it's when a player purposely avoids an objective to play in a style to pump up their K/D ratio, or kills for weapon service stars.

These guys were so skillful that they clearly could have won at any point. By playing the way they did ended up with an impressive K/D too.

Me and my friend were doing the L96 350m headshots assignment last night, after we've done that we were just messing around for the lols. When you joined you probably wondered what we were up to. Hope DICE doesn't class this as boosting or stats padding.

I really wish that DICE would give server owners a little more control over things, even introducing a upper/lower limit for rank etc. I went on one that was meant from 'n00bs' and it was full of people that were eagle rank and above. The admin wasn't there to kick them even though the server info did state that no one who had prestiged should join.

Also, i have noticed that some admins/owners will happily weight the sides in their own favour. After one match all the decent players were suddenly on the opposing team, and this has happened several times so it can't just be a coincidence, or they can't all have been friends of the admins/owners

Yeah, was funny when I joined. I guessed you were just playing around etc. I have no problem with this as it doesn't really affect anyone. I didn't drop out straight away as I hate increasing my quit stats.

I have Bankie on my friends list and was on a few sessions last night too, so anyone from DICE would know the stats are valid in terms of full on matches anyway.

Based on the amount of updates I see on Battlelog I am sure he never sleeps though...

Yep, PS3.

Question: Is there a counter anywhere that shows you how long your game has left? I played a TDM last night and it seemed endless.

Game runs on tickets (Kills/Respawn) Game end when a team reaches the set count.

Quote:
Reinforcement tickets are a key element of online gameplay in the Battlefield series. Each ticket represents a player's re-entry into the game after death.
In certain games, the tickets are represented numerically, either near the minimap or at the top of the screen. In others, the ticket count is represented by a bar at the top of the screen.
